Not a chance. Dealers lie all the time. Getting a misrepresented car and then having to sue the seller to get whole is not my idea of fun

I did. I found the car I wanted but it was 800 miles away. I called, put down a deposit, looked up an independent Porsche mechanic located near the seller, and asked the dealership to take it there for a PPI. It checked out and I bought the car and had it trucked to a Porsche dealer near me (owned by the same network).

That was my first time buying a car sight unseen (though the dealer sent me lots of photos and videos). It was a good experience and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

beautiful car, congrats. More pics when you get a moment and your experiences once you have some seat time.

I recently purchased a used 911.1 C2S from a dealer 600 miles from home, sight unseen. I had multiple conversations with him and while not all dealers are honest I found this particular dealer to be trustworthy. I had access to 120 high def photos and I did contact the previous owner to help with ease my fears. The car arrived and was exactly as described. My experience doesn't suggest that all remote purchases end as expected but also doesn't mean that you can't purchase remotely and have a positive outcome.

All that being said, I would much rather have flown to inspect the car and drive it home but this pandemic made that a bit more challenging.

I did it. Search for my thread about the several month delay in paperwork to get it registered. Big PIA, had to get PCNA involved. My 2500 mi car had one wheel refinished to sub par standards but was otherwise fine. For a 25000 mi car, invest in the PPI

If you're looking at CPO cars and don't get lucky that one you want shows up available in your area it seems necessary for anyone to consider buying from a distance. I'd love to say that a reputable dealer will offer a safe representation, but they won't. I bought a CPO BMW 5 series from the top dealer in Colorado years ago - the car came to me with a poorly sprayed bumper that flaked within a few months, and wheel bearing issues that in retrospect I think any inspection would have revealed.

So, I'll sign up for a trip to wherever the car is, a PPI arranged in advance, and the time to drive the car home - knowing that I may have to turn around and fly back.

Captain obvious - where do you have friends? Any chance there's someone in the city where you find a car who would be willing to do the PPI on your behalf? Rhetorical question for each of us to answer when the time comes.

PPI is a must, CPO helps after the purchase IMHO.
