Default advice on used carrera T price

hello everyone, first time post here but a long time reader. would like to welcome and appreciate any suggestion or advice.

I was about to jump in a used carrera T I recently found from a local non porsche dealer. it's a 2019 carrera T, one owner, clean title, with almost all the options I want. MSRP 124000$, now dealer offer 88000$. the car still have 35 months and 35k left for the factory warranty. if I saw this before the pandemic, i wouldn't be hesitate to pull the trigger as it was pretty good deal in my opinion. but right now, with the current economic situation, should I negotiate more discount as dealer is assumed to be desperate to move the car? how much I should aim for?

thank you very much!!

If you like the car do not lose it trying to safe a few bucks. If you can swing it for it and start having fun. More people are working than not and those looking for to spend $100k are not affected (for the most part).

I assume that the reason it is now $88K is due to the current economic situation. Having just purchased a 2019 Carrera T with 2,800 miles and an MSRP of $103K for slightly less than what you can buy the one you have your eye on...seems like $88K is a great deal. Not sure you are going to do much better than that. In fact, if they went much lower, I'd probably start questioning why or how.

I told you so...better buy it before someone else does, and that happens a lot.

I bought my T back in March, and although I bought mine in the UK, I'm American so I also looked at the US market. A T like the one you are describing would have reasonably listed for ~$95,000 three months ago, so I'd say they have already priced the car with the current economic situation in mind. I think at least 3 people (not including me) in the last two weeks introduced themselves as new (to them) T owners, so there are probably others besides you that are seriously considering that same car. Like the others said, if you like it, buy it. I was in your shoes recently, and for me, the T is a considerable amount of money that I wasn't willing to spend unless I got the the spec I wanted. By the same token, I wasn't going to let my ideal spec car slip away once I found it, provided the price was fair.

I bought a ‘19 cpo T one year ago for 99k. It had five years and two months warranty remaining, 2,500 miles and an m.s.r.p. of 115k. Seems high these days but, two days prior I sold my 14’ C2 for significantly more than it’s worth today. I’d jump on it if it’s the right car for you.

thanks all for the replies.

For me, after researching extensively on various websites (cars carguru autotrader), I found looking at the ratio between sale price and MSRP is quite useful. I see quite a few 2017 C2base (non cpo) still priced at ~60% of MSRP. That's why I was quite excited when I saw this T, at least I won't loss much money in terms of depreciation.

Make sure everything checks out. Can you take the car to have a PPI performed? This should be mandatory for any used purchase.

On a MT, you should get a DME report to check for the number/range of over-revs, warranty or not.
IMO.

Couldn't agree more, NEVER buy a manual transmission pre-owned car without a DME/Over Rev report..no matter how many miles or how much warranty remaining

Good price. Remember they probably took the car in prior to COVID and are already selling it lower than they expected to.

Agree with others a DME is a good move. It is another piece of data to use to evaluate your purchase.

Hi Jack,

I have just recently purchased a CPO '19 with 3k on the odometer. The MSRP was 116k, I got it for 96k. It was 90% of what I wanted in my first 911 and well below what I was prepared to pay for it. As such, I went for it and never been happier. It is an emotional investment in my book.

I hope you get your perfect T soon.

-Mack

That price seems very low. How many miles?
