Default 991.1 ticking sound in the rear

New 991.1 CPO owner. Had it for about 2 weeks and just today noticed this noise. Does it sound normal to you? It’s like a light metal switching ticking kinda sound. Thanks for your input... before taking it again to Porsche.

I can hear what you are talking about. To me, it sounds like something along in the muffler is shifting/moving. Like a clamp making a creaking sound.

To me, I am almost hearing an arcing sound. So, I wonder how old the spark plugs are, and or the coil packs?

Thx for your inputs. Dropping it off at Porsche today. Will report back. Hopefully not serious.

I think it’s the ball bearings. It’s all ball bearings nowadays....

I'm stumped. It resembles the noise of an exhaust system/heat shield undergoing thermal expansion/contraction, but the sound occurs too often and a little too regularly for that.

I had a similar sound on my 2015 C2S Check out this old thread. https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1119...d-at-idle.html
Mine would occur only when hot. Before the factory warranty expired, I had a Porsche Dealer do a full inspection. They of course didn't find anything. I drove it thousands of miles, no problems, but intermittent ticking continued when hot. I had 4y/40K service service done a couple months ago (standard items but also coil packs and serpentine belt) and the noise is gone. So it could have been anything from the oil, to the plugs/coil packs, to the belt to a loose heatshield or bolt or something else that needed tightening.

@SMZ, yup mine happens when warmed up after I give it a good spin, and when idling. I don’t hear it inside the car or while driving. It is CPO which I picked up recently. Dealer did 40k mile service, oil change, spark plus, driving belt, battery, alignment... and the usual inspections.

It’s with the dealer again now. While waiting for the service guy, had to turn off engine, and after a few minutes, couldn’t get the noise back without driving it. Go figure. Waiting to hear back from the shop
