C2S or Turbo?
I sold my 2009 997.2 last fall and I have been looking for a replacement. It has to be a cabriolet. I have narrowed my choices to a 2014 - 2015 Turbo (not Turbo S) and a 2018 - 2019 C2S. In favor of the turbo, is better performance and presence. In favor of the C2S is less complexity, no AWD (already have several AWD vehicles), less weight, the upgraded engine and probably much lower mileage for the same money. I have driven both (coupes, not cabs). The 2017 C2S is a definite performance improvement over my 997.2. Is there anything significant I am overlooking?

have not answered that yet.
2014-2015 turbo and turbo S are very close in price since they are in similar spots on the depreciation curve. I would get a Turbo S since it is more car for nearly same money.
also my C2 S is rwd which is fun to drive maybe more so than an AWD Porsche. Although I have limited e experience with AWD.
either way you win. Great situation to be in.
good luck

You will have better warranty in the c2s, more fun and I'll try not to post this too loud but the c2s is a turbo and the Taycan turbo is not. Flame suit on. I actually have not driven the 3.8 turbo but I hear the base is more fun from 3.8 owners in pm's. I admit I'd rather have a 200k 3.8 but I'm too poor. However even the base is so much fun and I still am so limited on letting it rip.

If you have never owned a turbo CAB, get in one and drive. I've had two and loved them both. I missed the NA motor roar so bought a 991.1 C2S with PSE. Love the noise, and the ability to thrash around at legal speeds..
The turbo is quiet, but never stops pulling. The NA C2s (or C4s) 991.1 with PSE (or any good bolt on exhaust) will scream, pop, burp and roar like hell throughout the power band. When you mash the gas and hear the beautiful noise you'll think you're doing 100, by the time you look at the dash and realize you're almost doing 50mph and you'll laugh for a second and jam the petal yet again.
The turbo, however, you will mash the accelerator waiting to hear something exciting until you realize you're doing 90mph in your neighborhood, just three houses down from your house.
Drive both and you'll know real quick which one you prefer. OR drop the CAB and get the GT3 and you get it all.

I found the Turbo S commands a significant price boost and I really don't want the expense of center lock wheels or ceramic brakes. I have driven both. The n/a engine is kind of weak on the bottom end. The 2017 C2S improves the bottom-end nicely. But, the turbo is an absolute blast. However, the C2S feels lighter and more tossable. I should mention I'm 76 and hearing impaired so exhaust sound has never been a factor.

Sorry for the confusion, "As the saying goes, if I had to explain..."

The updates on the .2 are nice and it'll be a few years newer. On the downside, if you like all the boxes checked equipment wise, it's harder to find the right car in my experience. If you've driven both and you weren't leaning one way or the other then I would say the 991.2 makes a bit more sense, lower mileage, more warranty and even though it's newer and in the steeper part of the deprecation curve, it likely doesn't have as far to go. Regarding the AWD, it's a pretty good system and when the car is equipped properly I don't think it takes anything away from the driving experience (unlike prior gen 911s), unless you're comparing to a GT3.

Had a 13 C4 and it was great. Got a 16 Turbo and it's amazing! Thousands less than an S, a little less power you won't miss (still crazy fast), cheap brakes, 5-lug wheels (an almost daily driver with a winter wheel/tire set I do myself) and rear wheel steer. The factory exhaust was way too quiet for 75 year old ears but Shark Werks cured that so now it's perfect.

If you’re willing to tune the car, I’d recommend the 991.2S. You’ll get some of the improved creature comforts like CarPlay, have a longer warranty, and will be able to get around 500hp with a protune. I have a tuned 4S cabriolet and it is a Beast.
