Default 991.1 Steering wheel

Is there anyway to change the silver plastic trim on the 991.1 steering wheel? Is it easy to replace? Really wish Porsche used the anthracite trim from the interior on the wheel and shift ****.

I'm aware of DB carbon out of Germany. I'm looking for alternatives.

There must be a way. DB Carbon makes a piece of carbon trim for the sport steering wheel. https://shop.db-carbon-interieur.de/...ts/1149CA-0001

I went with the "ugly" carbon fiber trim to match the rest of it in the interior. You can certainly remove it and paint it. It is not hard to do, but you need to remove the airbag, pull the wheel and then remove the trim from the wheel. It is just torx bolts and tabs. Painting requires the right prep and paint. I'll bet the BumperPlug.com guy can do it.

If you are not planning to do it yourself contact Eric at bumperplugs.com as he does a lot of parts painting and did a bunch for me over the years to include some for my steering wheel.

This is what you're looking for? I'll probably do this myself in the future, just don't want to hassle with airbag removal right now.

There is also film dipping. Lots of finish choices, doesn’t add much thickness to the parts and very durable after clearcoat.

Cool, I was just going try to pry it off lol. Good to know it's bolted on! Pulling the steering wheel is easy!

Personally, I think the 991.1 steering wheel is a bit ugly.
When I get one, I'll be swapping it out for an alcantara 991.2 wheel. Looks much better IMHO.

yes but it also is around $1500 to do so if you don't have to buy an airbag. I think you may need to.

To paint this piece is about $20.00
