2017 base carrera 4 Yr 40000 service - Wash DC Area
Hi everyone,
I bought a 2017 911 Carrera with CPO last year and just took the car in for its 1st oil change with me. I was informed the car is due for a 4 year 40000 service (only has 11K miles at the moment) and was quoted $3300 including the brake fluid flush. I am in the Wash DC area and wanted to get thoughts from this group if this estimate is what should be expected for a 4 year service? Note this quote does not include engine oil since that has already been done on the car.
I do plan to keep this car up to date with everything it needs but wanted to get a validation from others with more experience before getting the service.
Best,
Pali

It seems like a 2017 could have been delivered in 2016 but not likely in April of 2016. You are not due on mileage and not likely due on actual 4 years. Due have the date that the car was put into service? Should be on any Porsche service department paperwork.

Thank you Jack. Here are the two dates on the paperwork for the oil service but I can check others. Seems like this was indeed an early 2016 build car.
Production date: Mar 9th, 2016
Warranty Expiration Date: Apr 7th, 2020 (before CPO kicks in)

When my 4 year service was due, I got quotes from Bethesda, Tysons, Arlington, and Silver Spring. Silver Spring was the cheapest, Arlington was the most expensive. I went with Silver Spring and ended up paying over $2000, but that included replacing one changeover valve that went out on my way to drop off the car. But, the SA I dealt with at Silver Spring was not good and I would not go back there just to save a few dollars.

Just had my 2 year service on my current 991 last weekend!

I was quoted $2200 by Porsche of Walnut Creek (CA). I ended up doing everything myself for under $400 over a weekend.

Picked her up two years ago today!

You don't have to go to the dealer when under warranty - just keep records of the services performed. You can perform the services yourself or use any shop. It does not have any impact on the warranty.

I'm going to assume your 4 year old vehicle has had it's 3 year service. So now it's 4 years old and has 11k miles on it.
Oil change is due - $175-250
Brake fluid - Maybe $200-250 tops
At your mileage you don't need spark plugs changed, air filters changed, tires rotated (again most likely)...
There are things worth changing based upon time. But doing a fixed service based upon either miles or time on the same items is weird. Fluids may deteriorate, but air filters and spark plugs do not. $3300 is obscene unless it includes some really non-standard stuff. And since 40k/4 year is basically the same as 20k/2 year, and is LESS than the 3 year/30k service, at that rate your base carrera would probably have needed $10k worth of maintenance by 11k miles.

Well, the four year / 40K service in my warranty book of my '17 C2 includes:
- Oil change and filter (I did mine a couple months ago, $90 in supplies).
- Replace Cabin/Pollen filter 9P1-819-631 ($49.00 at getporscheparts.com, easy DIY).
- Replace Air Intake Pre-filter 991-572-371-00 ($12.31 at getporscheparts.com, easy DIY)
- Replace Filter Elements of Air Cleaner 9P1-129-620 ($50.94 at getporscheparts.com, bumper has to come off for this one, I believe)
- Change Brake Fluid
...Plus a number of "check" and "inspect" and "visual inspections".
Yeah, $3K seems pretty high.
But if your goal is "Porsche Service", wince and hand them your credit card. It will be done under the Porsche-approved service regimen, which hopefully means a good tech takes his/her time and services your car properly. But if you are at all mechanically inclined, you can save a metric ton of money by doing some of these simple services yourself, if you can. Of course, you may also not have the option to DIY in terms of ability, knowledge, space, tools, inclination, or any combination. You just end up paying the dealer. That's ok too, because everyone's circumstances are different.
A third option is a good, reliable independent mechanic who specializes in Porsche vehicles. This may or may not be available in your area. So in this case, you could do the easy ones (pre-filter, cabin filter) and leave the ones requiring more effort (engine air filter) for your mechanic.
Good luck.

Yeah, I called around to a couple of independents before my last service (just an oil change). One immediately tried to sell me the 40k service for 2k+ even though I explicitly said oil change only. The other was a few dollars more than my local dealer (Bethesda), but doesn't have loaners and isn't as conveniently located for me. I've been really happy working with my SA at Bethesda the last few times I've needed service for my car and my wife's Macan. So, for now, I'll be going back there for regular maintenance. The new location at Pike and Rose is nice, too.

Thank you everyone. This quote is from Arlington where I bought the car. I am closer to the Bethesda location and will give them a call as well to get another quote.
I asked the dealer for what’s included and they sent me the file that I am attaching with a comment “Everything under 4/40000 service plus brake fluid flush”
Will keep everyone posted on what others quote me.
