Default 991 exhaust

I bought a 2014 991 coupe recently. Can anyone tell me if this is the factory exhaust? It has what look like stock mufflers behind the wheels.

Also wondering if the black on the stainless tips is paint or carbon build up.

Thanks in advance.

Not stock center muffler. Carbon on tips. They look to have never been cleaned, if they were then there are some serious problems.

The car has 54,000 miles. There are no problems mechanically so I’m guessing they were never cleaned.

So you are saying they should be bare stainless?

Polished - these give you an idea of what they should look like: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911...kAAOSwsyNeWtSb

Tips came out pretty good. Here’s a before and after. Used a little carburetor cleaner and steel wool. I would still like to know what exhaust is on the car. It is loud for a minute or so on start up then quiets down. No exhaust switch on the console.

It is an X-Pipe of some sort, probably Fabspeed or something similar. Stock exhaust looks like this (different tips than yours - both stock)

Nice, now just don't let them get so nasty by periodically cleaning them!

The "Mufflers" you show behind the wheels are cats.

I am not a complete moron, but maybe a partial one. The one coming header is a cat, but are you telling me the other one is a cat too? That is what I was referring to as a muffler.

It’s the side muffler (oem).
you simply have an X-pipe, the rest is oem.

Anyone seen this X pipe in the past? It was on my car when I got it.

To follow-up, I think it may be from Sharkwerks, but any comments or opinions are welcome.

Most of the time when I am on here I am multitasking. I wasn't insinuating anything. When I quickly scrolled through I thought you were referring to the cat and yes the other is a muffler.

I have to admit I was a little miffed when I posted that. I’m a relative newb to the Porsche world but have been working with cars for most of my 54 years on this planet.

No worries. What I thought was odd about my x pipe is that it looks like there was something else attached on the forward of each that may have been cut off and welded shut.
