My 2014 Audi A4 water pump happened to leak the same week. I noticed the fluid in the garage literally as I was going to pick up the 911. As luck would have it, Audi has a similar 10 warranty on their water pumps as well so it was covered for no charge as well. I just saved about $5500 between the 2 water pumps! Thank God! Buying lotto tickets! Now the 911 belt tensioner is leaking. Oh well, have to pay for something on these cars.
So I can take my 2017 C4S to the dealership here in Dallas when it starts to leak and they will honor a 10 year water pump warranty even though the car is out of warranty?

6k miles no leak yet

2017 C2S 32k miles, found water pump leak during pre-delivery inspection (just sold my car, which is a great car and I'll miss it dearly). All work being performed under warranty. Got lucky with timing since warranty expires next month. During work, due to corrosion, a bolt broke between a heat shield and the left turbocharger oil tank. They also replaced the turbocharger oil tank. I don't even want to know how much this would cost if it wasn't covered under warranty.

My 2018 c4s had the water pump leak at 7k. Now the tensioner locked up and melted the serpentine belt. I think its bad work from the shop on the water pump. A tensioner should last more than 8k miles. I will fight them if they try to make me pay for it. Oh and btw my parst are coming from Germany so its been two weeks in the shop and counting

Wonder if a tune would impact warranty.

Depends on what breaks and which dealer.
There is no relationship between these water pump failures and tunes.

My 2018 water pump failed at 43k miles. I saw some pink fluid on the garage floor and didn't even have to look under the car to know where it was coming from. Drove it to the dealer, got it replaced for free. Since they have to remove the belt to do the work, I handed them a new serpentine belt to put on instead of reusing the old one.

It was time for the serpentine belt since I got my 2018 in July 2017. All totally free except my cost for the belt from Suncoast. ~$69.

tensioner damper is known failure item, they go bad just sitting there, I guess the seals go bad and start leaking fluid. Easy to diagnose if you pop your head under the car every once in a while you can keep an eye on it. Here’s the one I removed from my car, and the replacement for comparison:

If you see a bunch of grime on it, it’s because the oil is leaking out and collecting dust to make the grime. Replace if it looks like this! They are $30 parts, but takes effort to get there, have to remove everything same as belt/filter, and then you can remove the tensioner assembly and replace the damper (or the whole assembly is about $250 if you want to go that route).
