‘It’s an indicator light to mark the left rear corner of the car ( the lamp only lights up on left side of the car ) in poor visibility situations- fog, heavy rain, snow etc. It’s a European thing - it lets the driver behind you know where the left side of your car is in poor visibility situations and he can pass on that side assuming there’s a lane there.
Put the head light switch in the low beam position and pull the **** out.

Well, technically, you did.

yes forever, but please only use it when it’s “necessary” in low visibility driving like fog or heavy rain. It’s so annoying/blinding when you have to drive behind somebody in normal conditions with their rear fog on. Some d-bags think it’s cool to leave it on all the time, maybe it’s cool if I drive behind you with my high beams on 😁. Only in Europe do they seem aware of when it’s appropriate and necessary to use a rear fog.

I’d say the same applies for front fog lights, use them for fog or low visibility driving. Admittedly back in the day I used to run my front fogs in regular weather and thought it was cool 😎 in hindsight that was dumb, fogs are for fog! I believe that they do individually activate as “cornering lights” automatically when needed though.
