If you're going to catch a nail/screw, that's where you'd want it to be. Go and get it patched unless of course, you have road hazard coverage with Tire Rack in which they'll just replace it. If TR allows you to keep tire, I would still patch and keep as a spare.

Interesting! I have never heard of that. What is the process?

If I were to do that I think I would use Liquid Nails, after cleaning it very well with 91% alcohol, since that would last much longer.

I would do none of that, except to drive to a tire shop. I admire resourcefulness and creativity, but that has to be balanced against foolishness and risk. Anyone who can afford to run a 991 can afford $50 at a tire shop to get the hole patched properly--from the inside. That also is the only way to check for damage to the belts.

All I was saying there are alternatives to Super Glue! And at least he did not say he would use duct tape!

Yeah, that'll buff right out.

It should be easy to fix, but a plug or patch (or both, ideally) will end the tire's speed rating.

Here's the risk: it doesn't work so I have a slow leak. Then I can drive to the shop to get it fixed. Lucky for me I've never had an issue the times I've done.

My local discount tire will repair for free. They will dismount tire, patch from inside, remount and balance and dunk test it.

I just had a rear tire on my T with a nail from construction going on at our house.

AND last year the same thing on my 4Runner.

Both cars were still on factory tires not purchased from them. Amazing customer service.

i have however purchased many sets of tires from this store and will continue to do so...

Also according to Michelin a proper patch like this does not affect the speed rating of their tires.

Manufacturers differ on the status of repaired tires: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret...jsp?techid=225
