I think most of the concern with a repaint comes from it being unknown. For example, someone is side swiped in traffic and they repair it out of pocket, or the state does not report in to Carfax.
If you have documentation to support that the repaint was because of cosmetic damage only like rock chips and not something structural or requiring panel replacement, most buyers would be fine with that. The key is making sure this documentation gets passed down from owners over the years which almost never happens and these things remain a mystery. For example, my old Carrera S had a repaint done prior to the first owner taking delivery, it was a PCNA car with 10k miles and had a scratch on the lower rock guard so they repainted the entire rear quarter. But until I found the first owner and talked to him about it, I had no idea if it was cosmetic or if it was an accident.
