Default 991 cab Rear window goes up but then back down again

Hi, when I close the roof on my 991.1 cabriolet, the right rear window goes up but not fully, then back down again. I have to manually pull it up by holding the window button a few times before it goes all the way up and stick. It's like something is stopping it from going all the way back up.

Anyone had this issue?

Sounds as if you need to re-index your windows. To do that, when the window is UP.....press and HOLD the switch DOWN and count to five before releasing it. Try that.

yes - happens to me often.

I've reprogrammed multiple times -- no joy...

Sometimes it works -- sometimes i have to try it 2-3 times....

Took it to the dealer -- my SA said it happens .... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This happened to me and the dealer replaced my "rear window mechanism" under my CPO.

I also had to get the rear window mechanism replaced and that fixed it

Sorry to revive an old thread but I just purchased a ‘13 C2S cab with the same issue, drivers rear window. Was there anyone who found a fix that didn’t involve replacing the window regulator? The window resetting didn’t work for me. Window goes up just fine if drivers door is open, but when it’s closed, the added resistance against the seal causes it activate the anti pinch protection and go back down.

The Window Regulator is one of those things that either works, or it doesn't. When they break, the window becomes inoperative. Sound more like you have some friction resistance possibly from old rubber. Buy some Gummifledge and coat the seals liberally, this stuff works pretty well to get glass to glide on seals.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I have gummipfledge ordered and on the way. Which seals exactly would I coat? Could you post a pic of the specific area that should be coated? Much appreciated.

Anyone had this issue?

My passenger side works perfectly. My drivers side rear window does not. Do you get a slight grinding noise? Mine will go up halfway, grinding a bit then back down. Requires me to inch it up manually past the pinch protection.

Mine has no grinding whatsoever, but sounds like there's increased resistance midway up, I'm thinking from the seals on the glass or the door pressing against the seal when shut. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue though!

bought a new to me 2017 and my driver side is doing the same. Wouldn't go up, pushed the window out a bit while trying to roll it up and it went up. Almost seems like mine is "off track". Going to be dropping it off at the dealer early next week since it is still under warranty.

How did you make out at the dealer? What did they do?
