I checked again and I think I am correct. The base 992 uses the same and engine and turbochargers from the 991.2 S engine. Porsche just de-tunes it down to 380hp.

Where did you check? Source please.
To the OP, FWIW I think a 992 base will get you more compared to used C4S. You don't seem to be wanting that little bit of extra power so no real benefit to C4S.

Reports from several magazines. Google it.
I have read the 992 S has the 991.2 GTS engine and turbos. The base 992 has the engine and turbos from the 991.2 S.
I say 991.2 all the way. Id rather wait for a 992.2 and see what that brings before I gave up on a 991.2. The savings to be had on 991.2's is pretty good right now.
I think it's mostly come down to AWD for me. I think both interiors have pros and cons for me and I'd be happier with either. Probably happier with the 992 but not $20k happier. I don't really want to give up any options I have on my 992 spec so the extra $8k just to get a C4 is a no-go. I'm having a hard time deciding if I need it.
On one hand, I drive safely in the rain & snow, with appropriate tires, so theoretically the RWD with Wet Mode should be adequate.
On the other, I've become used to driving AWD vehicles and I do like the added feeling of safety, placebo or not.
I have a couple weeks to decide until my deposit becomes nonrefundable. Decisions, decisions!

I appreciate all of the help!
I think the 991.2 would have lost that first depreciation, which is the biggest one, typically. So the price variance would be even more if you are putting 20K miles a year on either car.
