Default Oil Change Service after 3300 miles

Hi folks my 19 TTS has 3300 miles, bought it in April with delivery miles, live in NYC and it is stored in a local garage. I got in today for a Sunday drive and it said “oil service in 18 days or 6700 miles”....when I bought it the dealer said come in around the 1 year mark for a 1 year service but was wondering if the oil change is required this soon. My registration and NY inspection runs our end of March so was planning on going to bring then but certainly can bring it in now if best for the oil.

Thank you

There is a question lurking in there somewhere. Clearly the car was produced in Jan 19. Is your concern the extra 2 months beyond 1 year. Can you not bring it in to the dealer in January?

Odd for that to come up 4 months early.

Was your car placed into service before you took delivery?

My ‘19 C4S isn’t due until 10k or on one year anniversary (January 2020). No maintenance messages during the nearly 9k since January ‘19 when the clock started at delivery date.

Changed my oil/filter after the run in period at 3k.

Might be the salt air from the sea voyage across the ocean contaminating the oil and causing the hyphendufinator to throw a code /snark. Not a big deal take it in when you do inspection.

No it went into service when I bought it in April 2019. Ah you mention a 3k mile run in service?

yes thanks my question was should I ignore the oil change needed in 18 days or 6700 mile alert and just bring it in when I planned to in March

is it inconvenient to bring it in January? I guess it is. I would just bring it in in January. Do you want to get more miles out of the current oil? I’m not clear on why you want to wait. Is this the first oil change? I ask since many would have driven the oil between 1 and 2k.

What are delivery miles? Mine had 8. What did the odometer read at delivery?

If you get the first service for free ask them when they will do it since my dealer told me it could not be done any earlier than 10 months after delivery to qualify for the free service. In regards to changing it at 3k that is up to you and while I do not want to start a new discussion here about changing oil I will say the car does not use break-in oil and personally I did not have it changed at 3k, but I did have it changed at 4500 miles when I hit the 1 year mark.

Personally wouldn’t ignore any service reminders.

As to no break in oil, I’m sure assembly lube is used and any fine particles are bound to come off early, cheap insurance. Label me over cautious.

I’ve done this initial service with every car I’ve owned for over 4 decades and none used oil to point that required additional oil between changes during ownership.
