AWE Tuning wind buffeting solution
I really like driving my car with the windows down but the wind buffeting is awful. AWE Tuning has a solution and I wanted to know if anyone has tried it and has it worked? Is the installation as simple as they make it out to be? I have a 991.2.

Yes, done on my 991.2S. Very simple to fit, one screw underneath that small prisable off triangular lump inside the door at the back of where the piece fits on. But don't overtighten screw or it will go through or at least leave a stress blemish on the outside. I think it improves the buffeting but not 100%, not sure much above 50%. The lip deflector is really quite a small lip to do the job. I hear the stick-on Blackmills version does better but IMHO looks awful. When you first get it, your reaction is that the box must cost more to produce than the deflectors. A bit cheap looking but look better fitted and the originals are no better quality. But hey ho, I guess small numbers produced so higher cost. Wonder why Porsche don't design as standard.

I drive my 991.2 with my windows down all the time. To avoid the buffeting, with the driver’s window all the way down, I lower the passenger window about 2/3 down.
This works for me. Don’t feel the need to do anything else and get plenty of air flow with the sound show from the exhaust.
Hardly ever use a/c.

Have had them in for over a year, I think?
My 991 has gone from a "roll the windows up as soon as you get on the freeway" car to one that I can keep one or both windows down on the freeway, which I really like. Also, no more need to crack the passenger window to eliminate buffeting. They don't kill all of the turbulence, but they utterly transform the experience for the better. And I prefer the way they look to the factory pieces, too—the factory triangles look like a cheap way to finish that area of the car (which is what they are), while the little ridge on the AWE deflectors nicely match the detailing on the standard 991 mirrors and give the piece some visual purpose. They are a bit flimsy and very expensive for what they are, in terms of materials and feel, but I would buy them again in a heartbeat, and have bought them as gifts for two friends. I doubt you'll regret them...

They are awesome! Installed mine about a month ago and they are great. I guess there are two types of install based on your car. Instructions are easy to understand. Mine was the 'easier' version and took me 15 min for both sides.

In my opinion they are worth it. Not likely you can find the CF versions any longer but here's a few snaps of mine. These were one of the 1st sets to be made after I brought the issue to Todd's attention at AWE. He had a Turbo 991 at the time for R&D and he managed to find a simple solution.
