Read the final sentence on that website:
" If this vehicle is traded to a non-authorized Porsche dealer or broker for resale purposes, the Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty is void."

As other posters have said normally when a car is sold by a non-P dealer the CPO warranty is no longer in effect. Maybe because yours hasn’t kicked in yet it may be different. Good luck!
That wasn't from Porsche Bellevue.

Mr. Jenkins,

Thank you for your reply, I hope this email finds you well!

We have updated your information in our records and I am happy to confirm that you are now listed as the owner in our system. However, it looks like there may have been some misinformation provided to you by your dealership regarding the CPO warranty.

The CPO warranty will only transfer with a vehicle if it is sold from person to person, or if the vehicle is purchased from an authorized Porsche dealership. If a vehicle has been sold to or purchased from an unauthorized dealership or broker, the CPO warranty is void. For further details, please feel free to visit our website: https://www.porsche.com/usa/approvedused/porscheapproved/features/warranty/

I understand this may not be the answer you were seeking and I apologize if this information was not provided to you. Please feel welcome to contact us if you have any additional questions.

Yup... Pretty much sums it up. I really appreciate you posting that. Well, now I know and can move on with the Fidelity warranty this spring before my factory expires. Darn... Someone lost some money the day that car was traded.

I didn't read the other thread, so I apologize if this was already covered, but was the BMW dealership part of a larger umbrella organization or chain of stores (with same owner)? I have seen cases where "Bob Smith Lexus" takes a Porsche as a trade-in (for a new Lexus) and even though there is a "Bob Smith Porsche" that shares the same store or parking lot, someone decides to put the traded Porsche on the "Bob Smith BMW" used car lot around the corner instead. And when someone buys it, the dealership paperwork just says "Bob Smith Lexus/Porsche/BMW" and maybe they all use the same service department too, so they are still an "authorized dealer." Anyway, it's a long shot, but just mentioning this in case it wasn't mentioned before.

Good luck.

On the other hand, you have a fantastic car. Props to you for being a stand-up guy about the CPO, no matter how it works out for you.

Nope.. Completely different dealerships. It is interesting that the service manager knew where I bought it from and still told me I had CPO coverage.

I looked at CPO as a bonus. I would have bought the car regardless. This is my first Porsche and I kind of jumped in feet first with not a ton of research (some but not nitty gritty stuff). It wasn't until after I got the car that I saw how important Rennlisters believe a CPO and PPI are. I never had the car PPI'd either. I know... The horror.

However, obviously the car was put through a CPO inspection at one point. I know the service history of the car and didn't see any warning signs.

We also do most of our own services on our cars. Case in point, she's in what I call "Terminator mode" right now as we're doing the 40k service and... Waiting for my AWE switchpath exhaust!! Changed to Posi-quiet brake pads, new air filters, cabin filters, you know the drill.

Everything looks great so far. Old spark plugs look within spec, no oil, corrosion, etc. She checks out good and I expect it to be a great car well into the foreseeable future 😁

You could call a few of your local dealers to inquire about the price of certifying the car for an additional two years. I have a friend doing this on a 2015 cabriolet. Dealer charging $3,700 and has to take title. I suppose he’ll have to pay sales tax on the $3,700. On the plus side, he’ll have warranty for years 5 and 6 of ownership.

I'm not sure how that would make more sense than just getting a Fidelity warranty? The factory warranty expires in April. I'm guessing I can get a lot longer term than 2 years for $3700 with a Fidelity warranty. And I also have a loan on the car, so having to have the dealer buy the car from me and resell it seems like a huge hassel for an extra 2 years.

My CPO experience. Bought a CPO 2014 911 in June 2018 from a non-Porsche dealer. The auto was sold on consignment and the title so reflected. I had CPO service in May 2019 and August 2019 at a Porsche dealership without incident. Is it possible you purchased a consignment automobile? Another possibility is the BMW dealership never took title of the auto you purchased. There is no way Porsche USA knows the status of ownership except via title transfer. If there was no title transfer prior to the title transfer to your name then the CPO is valid.

Hmmm... Interesting. The car was not a consignment. It was traded in for an X7.
As to the BMW dealer taking over the title... I'm not sure. That could be my saving grace then? This was the car fax from the day I bought it. It does say the BMW dealer serviced it and then dealer inventory and offered for sale two different times. I'm not sure what the car fax looks like now.

In this situation I would call PorscheUSA(no dealers) in March 2020, give them the VIN and ask when the CPO expires. If the CPO is void they will so inform you; otherwise they will state April 2022.
Good luck!!
