Is this a good deal on a 2013 991?

Hi everyone I am new to the forum I am looking to buy my first Porsch. I have been looking for several weeks. In my search I’ve come across a very nice 2- owner 2013 base Carrera PDK, sport Chrono package, 20” Carrera wheels, and a few other nice options. The color combination is one I really like and the car is overall in very good condition with a clean carfax.

I have two concerns; one is that the odometer is currently at 73,000 miles which is very high for the year and for these cars. This will be a weekend car and I’ll be surprised if I put 3000 miles per year on it so I’m not overly concerned with the mileage although should I be concerned about future resale value?

The other concern is that the PDK transmission was completely replaced by Porsche under warranty earlier this year. Part of me thinks this is actually a good thing because it’s basically a brand new $16,000 transmission but the other part of me thinks this may be a red flag when trying to resell in the future. I would love to get some opinions from more experienced owners. I am super excited at the thought of owning my first Porsche 911 as it has been a dream since I was a boy. I am turning 40 this month so it would be a nice birthday present to myself but I don’t want to make an emotional decision so looking for you guys’ input. Thanks in advance!

Here’s the kicker- the seller has agreed to a $40,000 sale price, which just sounds almost too good to be true. Original sticker price was $108k. VIN isWp0aa2a99ds107052 in case you want to see original options.

Happy birthday!

I agree with you, a new PDK is a plus, not a negative. Can't comment on your other questions. Others here can be more helpful.

I’ll admit I haven’t kept up with the 991 market recently but $40k does seem like an extremely low price for a clean carfax car in even with the miles. I’d be cautious and certainly pay for a good PPI.

I think this falls into the "too good to be true" bucket. 73k is not a concerned if well maintenance. How long was previous ownership? Could be a bigger hidden issue that the current owner is trying to get rid off the car since it is already out of warranty.
As other had mentioned, get PPI and get the full story. Good luck finding your first P-car

I agree, which is why I am being cautious. I mistyped in my original post, there have been 4 owners. The 3rd owner put 50k miles on it in a bit over 3 years. The current (4th) owner has only put about 6k miles on it in just under two years of ownership.

I’m arranging a PPI with forum-recommended local Porsche shop, so that is an absolute must. If it checks out, it sounds like this is a steal.

Also, the owner currently has an aftermarket warranty on it at $1800/yr so I don’t think he has any nefarious intentions, but you never know.

I think if you are not going to add a lot of miles yourself, this is an excellent deal. PPI and your own inspection are a must.

Just checked the spec it has Burmester sound system, a very nice and rare option, I like this one!

Btw, I got my first 911 at 52, and my only regret is not buying it 10 years earlier, so good going at 40! 😊

There are a LOT of guys here, that wished they had a brand new, properly documented, PDK at the +70,000 mile mark.:)

Based on a solid PPI, and retaining the extended warranty, $40k is a very good price.
I recently traded my 2013 Base Coupe, 39k miles, $107k MSRP, 7MT, SPASM, PSE, PTV, for $50k on a 2019 911T.
The dealer, Porsche Jacksonville, put new Pirellis on it, CPO and is now asking $64,500.

They will probably get high 50's for it, so your 40K deal is solid.
Don't worry too much about a Porsche replaced PDK as long as it is thoroughly documented.
Good luck on your first Porsche, my 911T is Number 26.....Number 1 was a 67 912 bought new in 1967. :D

And if they don't (wish for a new PDK box) they are either lying or have a manual tranny. FNavarro, this could be YOUR Christmas miracle.

I think $40k is an excellent deal, provided the PPI and Carfax turn out with no issues.

You guys are giving me chills!! Thanks for the replies so far.

I was also considering this one:

Seems like a good deal to from what I can tell. So basically a 2009 Carrera S with 47k miles or 2014 Base with 73k. Which would you guys choose?

Part of me really wants to hold out for a manual, but this deal may prove too good to pass up.
