Default Pulling a button off the center console

Over the years I must have spilled some diet pepsi on my AC controls on my center console. (probably pulling Gs with a full open can ....lol). Unfortunately, the sticky syrup has gummed up my "synch" button and it is very sticky now and wont operate some times.

I want to get a small screw driver, pop it off and then clean it with alcohol. Of course, I also don't want to break the button either.

Are there any tricks to popping off this button? Anybody do this before?

Hopefully they are not like the center console buttons that must be removed from behind. Maybe check the parts diagram.

Before you go trying to remove the switch try this. https://www.homedepot.com/p/CRC-2-26...2004/100398344. A few electrical switches on my old BMW motorcycle were stiff and not always worked. I sprayed CRC all around the switches without removing them. Worked like a charm and they work like new.

Will work, but this is a better choice.

Yes, report back as to whether options work.

Never knew about those sprays.

Read the label warnings carefully. Some electronics spray lubes and contact cleaners can damage plastics.

Yeah, definitely test in an inconspicuous area first. Electronic cleaners can really do a number on plastic surfaces, depending on the composition of both. The damage may not be apparent immediately.

It's not hard to remove and disassemble the console button box, but I don't know how to take the HVAC control panel out. It's probably one of those things that's easy once you know how.

BTDT. The buttons come out best with HVAC head on a bench.

like i said, ive used CRC contact cleaner and lube on the switches in a plastic row of switches on my bike. When used there was a bit of over spray which was wiped off immediately with a paper towel. No damage to plastic surrounding the switches which is 20 year old plastic. Think about it, most of the internals on switches are plastic.

Getting back with results as requested. It worked fine. It took a couple iterations and cycling the button a few times but now it works great.

Thanks everyone for the ideas.
