I would heed that question to someone more knowledgeable with oil specs.

I plan to switch to Motul 5W-40 next oil change based on prior experience with the product, but the Mobil 5W-50 could be very good as well.

Can you show me a better UOA than the +15 I've posted? IDTS.

For me, I'm not trying to extend my drain interval and squeeze every last benefit from my oil, so the TBN means nothing to me. If I were running a fleet of taxi cabs, and wanted to optimize my maintenance regiment, than maybe it would be helpful. Does this help you?
Yep, got it. I have never purchased an oil analysis so I don't know what's extra and what's not.

Thanks!

My 991.2 owners manual calls for Mobil 1 0W-40 or 5W-40 and various oil analysis suggests that this oil loses its viscosity fairly quickly.

Moreover oil analysis results of Mobil 1 5W-50 show that this oil maintains its viscosity better than the 5W-40, but the 5W-50 is not recommended in the owners manual. So is there another document where Porsche recommends Mobil 1 5W-50 for the engine in the 991.2?

Thanks,

Jason

Mobil 5W50 is Porsche A40 approved. Even says so on the back label. You're fine.

All the more reason to go to 5W50. I think I'll use up the rest of my 0W40 stock on my Golf R instead

Use the 0W40 if you drive in the Canada winter.

I brought Mobil 1 5w/50 with me last month for the first oil change on my ‘19 T. The dealership refused to use it because 5w50 is not listed in the owners manual. It was listed in the manual for my 2014. They did use the oil I brought with me last year to service my ‘14.

I just put 5-40 in mine, right before winter. Good planning. I had a case of Motul left over. My garage doesn't get much lower than mid 40's though. Next round I'll go 0-40. Right in time for the warm weather.

Does anyone have a Motul 0W40 analysis? Would love to see what the viscosity looks like.
