Default Carbon Ceramic Brake owners.... question

Those of you using your cars in normal street use... not track day guys... I'm curious... how long are your brakes lasting? What is their life? and what cost did Porsche quote for replace/service?

I don't know anyone on PCCBs with exclusively street use that has ever replaced them. Not to say it doesn't happen, but I think it is rare.

Just my 2 bits.

aren't they standard equipment on the Turbo? or just the GT3/2?

either way, how long do they last is what I'm fishing for..

Unless you track the car more than a few times a year or get unlucky with a nasty, wedged rock or other debris between the rotor and wheel/shoe or score a tire tech who is a clutz, they will most likely last the life of the average car and beyond. Pads will go, disks will not. Particularly the Gen-III version on the 2017 and later cars shown below....




Your mileage may vary, but unless you are SchlepRock, they will be the last thing you worry about EVERY TIME YOUR FOOT HITS THE SLOW PEDAL. Neck and neck with FBs and with RAS for best block checked.

EDIT: Just saw your avatar, looks like you have them... If so, forget the above sermon as you undoubtedly know already. Are you having second thoughts? If so, don't. You'll love them for all the right reasons and soon forget what you paid for them.

thanks... I was hoping to hear this... I don't think I'll likely track it but once or maybe twice in it's lifetime,... I do like the idea of break dust free wheels tho, and that was the ultimate selling point for me.

Normal street use, wont wear them out. I would guess 80K to 90K miles. I track 2 a year. And it still hard to wear them out. If you don't see the value replace with another 3rd party big brake solution.

Have them on my TTS with 30k street wear. I'm 65 they have told me lifetime of use (there's a joke here somewhere). Excellent to have and unless used on the track somewhat regularly no short term issues.

I had a turbo s with PCCB. Sold it with 18,000 miles on it and 97% left on brakes.

Porsche measured all my PCCB pads a few weeks ago during my winter wheel swap and recorded 10mm front and 11mm rear after 7200 miles of street use. Anyone know what they are at when new? Maybe extrapolate expected miles (on the pads) from that?

carbon ceramic brakes are all about heat cycles. with pure street use, they should last the life of the car.

What pads are you using? OEM?

Generally, new pads have ~12mm of thickness.

For day-to-day street driving, PCCBs will outlast the owner of the car.

Even if the owner buys the car the moment he gets his driver's license.

Swap pads at 50% thickness. Rotors should be 100-200k miles, or the lifetime of the vehicle.
