Default Agate Grey wheel color help.

Hey all,

I am growing tired of the matte black wheels on my agate grey GTS. Im looking for wheel color suggestions or maybe new wheels all together. If I could have my perfect wheel setup, I would have the GT2/3 RS style wheels in that platinum color on my car. But unfortuniatly, the offsets dont work. It's my understanding the front will sink in 4MM per wheel and the rear will poke out 16mm. That just seems like WAY to much. I dont know. But the 991.2GTS has funky offsets for whatever reason. So...

1.) Do I color my stock wheel. If so, what color?
2.) Do I fork over 10K and get custom wheels. Which I really dont want to do. (No thank you on BBS FI-R or similar looking wheel. Not into that look at all)
3.) Or do I just live with it and choose differently next around?

Any suggestions gentlemen?

I had normal silver wheels on my Agate 981CS. I always felt anything darker was lost against the gray.

I vote bronze or brushed. BC Forged makes great wheels for ~4K a set. Forged, custom offsets, nice design options.

+ 1 for BC. Bought 3 sets over the years. Highly customizable and forged. Awesome wheels at great prices.

How about a simpler Black wheel, with less spokes?

HRE’s Satin Bronze looks amazing depending on how adventurous you’re willing to go. If more conservative, their Brushed Dark Clear would give sufficient contrast yet provide some visual interest with agate grey.

I never liked the black wheels on my GTS, so.

Not that much different than black. My wheels are painted the exterior color Agate grey with a silver pin stripe. I'm also interested in what folks think.

I almost forgot about BC forged. I remember them from my BMW days. I will totally check them out. Never really heard anything bad about them either. Thank you gentlemen.

I actually like my wheel design. But I also like the GT2 RS wheels. So yes I am open to less spokes. But Im more worried about the color.

I looked into HRE. The cost just turned me off. 10K++ for RIMS only is just insane to me. This 2200-2400 a wheel is just silly to me. Especially when you can get complete wheels from Porsche with tires for 6-8K. Im not saying HRE is anything like ADV1. But I did 12K ADV1 wheels on my M5 and they bent 3 times. So Im gun shy to try that again. Even if HRE is WAY better. Which they are. But still. That's just over what I want to spend for a change on the wheels.

Thats sexy! This makes me wonder what our wheels in the porsche platinum color would look like on my agate grey. I like your combo!

You are spot on - black wheels days have passed. And especially on dark colored cars - they’re essentially lost.

You know what would look awesome on your car? The 5-spoke Fuchs-like wheels from the 911/50. I’m not a Photoshop guru, but if you search you can probably find some reasonable photos. Searching for a set of wheels will no doubt take considerably more time.

Silver all the way. Have the stock Carrera S wheels on my Agate and love the look. Get complements all the time.

I ordered the optional Carrera wheels on my C4S and I'm very happy with them. My SA said that those wheels were the widest one available from factory (whether they are I really don't know).

They're also far easier to clean, less spokes, less crannies.

A color change on your current wheels would be the easiest to do and you wouldn't have to worry about fitment. You can spend some crazy money on them.

zoiks' car looks great with Black wheels, or maybe it is the Silver edge that makes them stand out. There are some cars that Black works the best on, like my car that is Miami Blue. Maybe a Gloss Black?

My problem with the factory wheels were the offset. Always felt they make the car look narrower. Was minutes away from pulling the trigger on some BC Forged when I ran in to a set of HRE P101’s. I made a ridiculous low offer and to my surprise the seller accepted. Ended up costing me less than BC Forged and had the within days. Also considered powder coating them black but fell in love with the brushed clear. The wheels finally pop and so clear they will stay. The thing that really made all the difference is the offset, the car looks completely different with these offsets and should look even better next week when it get lowered. If you’re not in a rush keep an eye on the marketplace section. There’s always people looking to free up space in the garage.
