New Michelin Pilot 4S tires - steering wheel shaking
Had a local Porsche dealer install four new Pilot 4S tires on 2018 4S with ~14K miles on Friday. Prior, Pirelli P-Zero tires, great ride, well balanced, no issues. After instal, and after about 100 miles for the break in, still constant vibration in the steering wheel, not fun to drive. Taking the car back to dealer tomorrow. Wonder if any of you have had any issues installing new Michelins and if you have any insight into what could cause this? Also to mention, found a big nick in the wheel (pic) after install - so wonder if the dealer had any idea what they were doing...
Thanks in advance

Do you see any weights stuck to the wheel? Look on both inner edges. They are not balanced.

Three Wheelin'
That gouge looks like it came from behind the wheel. See if your old wheel weights where behind. Ive seen them use crowbars or super large screw drivers to slide under the weights to release them when putting new tires and weights on.
If your steering wheel shakes when rolling (not braking) its most likely balance issue.

Might have thrown the weight and chipped your wheel?
You need to very carefully, and very thoroughly, inspect your wheels before and after, anytime they are serviced. Take pictures. Then you know who's at fault.

About 20 years ago, I had a problem with an Audi dealership that damaged a wheel during a tire change, and of course they denied it. After about three hours of arguing and escalating, I finally got the dealer to pay for the repair. In order to prevent any recurring disputes with a dealer, I always have the Sales Manager do a thorough inspection of my car before he takes delivery, and then we inspect my car before I take delivery. Haven't had a problem since.

You phone camera is you best friend, as well as a thorough walk around with the service writer when dropping off.
Many service departments are taking their own videos/photos during pre-service inspections.
I would be royally pi**ed if my car came back from service with that damage to a rim.
Ask them if they did a road force balance.
You have to go in prepared, it's rare that they will have your interests in mind. Shame really what it's come to.

It a dealership did that to my Sport Techno wheels, it would become a crime scene and the county coroner would be called in.

Wow that’s a big gouge for not seeing after 100 miles. Good luck trying to make them pay for it now.
The vibration has nothing to do with the tires, it’s due to poor balancing job.

If i walked into my dealer and told my SA this, i guarantee it would be taken care of immediately...

It took 3 visits to my local dealer to get everything sorted out with installing a new set of PS4's.
Visit 1: Silver weights on black rims.
Visit 2: black weights with left over glue from old weights and a slight vibration.
Visit 3: I'm pissed and yelling, rebalanced all wheels and supposedly I had lost a weight which explained the vibration. All the more a reason to clean the wheels so customers know what's going on if they see glue on the rims.
The kicker: I pick up the car and still glue on the rims...at this point I'm foaming at the mouth while the CA is cleaning up the residue with a spray and microfiber towel.
Last oil change there the drain plug was way over torqued...I'm so done with dealers
