Why does Porsche's switches allow you to turn on both heated and ventilated at the same time? Does this his help people who drive in the bitter cold?

i do this all the time, 1 red, 2 blues. its fantastic, think of it is a a warming element but with cool air moving it around.

the ventilated seats in the 991.1 are for me a must have. use them every single time im in the car, and the perforations (although tough to keep clean) just look so much better.

What are your climate control settings? I think that matters in regards to what temp air is being moved around and heat is just that, like a stove burner.

My seat back gets remarkably cool whether the Cab top is up or down and works equally well in warm or hot weather.

Probably because the seat heating is just a heating pad (no air circulation), whereas seat cooling is just fans moving air through the perf holes in the seat leather. Combining them might give you intermediate temps that just having the heating element on does not give you.

I know my aftermarket Recaros have a similar system; heating pads for the heating function and 12V fans (like computer fans) for the cooling function.

Lincoln by far. Her seats get ice cold real fast and I cannot keep them on the coolest position but in the Porsche I can. They each work differently though and if the same type were in the Porsche I guess the seat would be several inches higher, which is not ideal for me.

That’s what I thought. I had the ventilated seats on my C Class which I traded in on the 911, and they were completely worthless. On the max setting could hardly feel any difference, but the Blue lights looked good!

My 911 doesn’t have them, but in the buying process I did test drive a 911 which had them and they were stronger than on the C, but the best I experienced recently were in a friend’s Kia Stinger. Those worked very well.

Would it be weird to wear my cool-suit on weekend drives?

It's probably about managing expectations... I once test drove a Cayenne S for the wife with seat cooling ON and expected AC to blow up my back, but that is not how it works as explained in this thread. I told the dealer the seat was broken while in fact it was working exactly as expected. It's not as good a cooling as it is at warming.. I wanted that feature but now that I've experienced it, I'm good as is.

Funny but when I first got my C2S I put on the cooling seats switch and got very little cooling.....took to dealer and he promptly got a tissue and we went out to the car...he put it on the seat back and the tissue didn’t slip down. He laughed and said it’s working like it’s suppose too!
As others have said weather conditions seem to make it feel cooler at times...of course here in Az it’s hot!

When I had cooled seats in my 911, I noticed it prevented sweat more than actually providing cool air.
