Should run from a PEC car for sale?
Ive been looking for a well equipped 100Kish 991.2 C4 or C4S for a while. I know this has been discussed on the forum in the past but looking for fresh perspective. There is currently a well equipped C4S on the mannheim site coming up for auction. It is a manual transmission car. On the condition report it gets a 5.0 (but announced PEC and 24K engine replacement.) The car has only 2400 miles. Tell me, based on that info do i run and just look at other cars? Or if i make an offer at auction what is fair (i know this may be different of everyone)?

Lets look at this from a different perspective. You look at your window everyday at the Porsche dealership. A new 991 rolls off the truck and is immediately redlined, brakes smoked, clutch burned. etc. This goes on every day for weeks by different drivers. One day a guy blows the motor so they replace it and put it on the lot.
Would you buy it? It'll spend more days in the shop having things replaced for the next 3 years that you'll be able to drive it.
Run? Get an Acme rocket!

The engine replacement wouldn't bother me in the slightest, my biggest worry would be the tranny. if you have access to manheim it means you're a pro, but you're looking to keep this one for yourself? I probably wouldn't buy it as my personal car. It's probably a good option for a dealer who moves a lot of package and plans to offload it to an unsuspecting buyer.

Pretty catastrophic event to lose an engine at less than 2400 miles.
Think about this way, most buyers will walk away if they hear engine replaced, I would.
I've driven at the Atlanta PEC and the Birmingham Track Experience, cars are driven hard there, the Track ones get run over curbs and redlined day in day out, A/C on (hot in Alabama), so all of the components are stressed. I'll be back there in November for two more days.
Now if you're looking for track car and have a good shop connection, then it could be a good deal. Only drawback is that PDKs seem to be desired for tracking.
Choices.

Some people here act like these cars a fragile flowers that require nightshade and climate controlled garages else they disintegrate. I'm here to tell you, they don't.
If priced right, this would probably make an excellent driver for someone. OP should just walk in with eyes open and confirm it has CPO and do a PPI. Someone probably zinged the engine thus the replacement. Now you have a new one...do a DME on it to see what it shows. Yes, this car has a little more wear and tear than most but these cars are easily good to over 100k miles without issue.

I have access to the Manheim site through various friends so although I consider myself well informed I’m no professional. This car is sold through Porsche financial so I’d have to get a dealer to bid for me. I will get more info and let you guys know. My decision will be based on price and whether it can be cpod.
the car seems pretty well loaded. I can’t get the build sheet but Sport package, PCCB, PASM (maybe PDCC), 18 way seats, Bose, heated and vented seats. No sunroof and not premium plus pkg. but well equipped.

If you can get a great deal on it, it's got a new engine with only 2400 miles on it. Having the car gone through by a Porsche shop (dealer or indy) will likely result in maybe a clutch and maybe brake work. I agree with others who support you considering it - they are well built cars or we wouldn't be driving them. They are not wall flowers. It depends on what you want, but if you do your homework and can get a good price on it, why not? If you want a numbers matching garage queen, this obviously wouldn't be it. If you want anything other than that, I'd consider it. Good luck!
