I'm planning a 2,000+ road trip to Glacier National Park and other areas next week. I’ll mainly be in remote areas and not on divided roads. I do not want to be stranded without mobile phone coverage so I purchased a plug kit, a scissor jack, and the collapsible spare part #991 362 020 00. The spare arrived today with this same part number on the box from Germany but upon inspecting the wheel, the part number stamped on it is #996 362 120 03. For those who've ordered this wheel, do, you have this same part number stamped on it?

This is a spare purchased from Suncoast, sold for 991.2. I searched for the invoice to see if there was a part number on the order, but there was not because it was sold as a kit.

Here's a zoomed out pic. Looks a bit different. If the 996 numbered one is 19 inch as well maybe they're all the same?

I think yours is for .2 and mine for the .1. What is your tire size for the spare?

Tire on mine is a 175/55/19. I had thought it was the same part for all 991's, as opposed to there being a 991.2 part specifically. If your sizing is 17 inch I do think that's the incorrect part for a 991.

So, will that fit in the frunk?

Yes, I keep it in the frunk at an angle, similar to how other members are stowing spares. Fits easily at an angle, with room for jack, breaker bar, tools, etc. it would not fit inflated, but I don't think any of them would.

I currently don't have mine strapped down, but I'm going to explore the strap mod that a member recently posted about. From my experience the wheel moves very little even un-secured. I'd love to secure it to the frame somehow, my concern is it being lose in the event of an accident as opposed to it bouncing around or against the hood. I've hit some big bumps and I don't believe it's ever contacted anything.

Thanks, I'm considering purchasing one for myself for long distance travel. The idea of a can of fix a flat is a bit silly and its not like the local garage will have your tire and or size. You may have to drive a ways. Curious if this fits both the front and rear wheels? Seems most threads I've read involving flats involve the rear tires for whatever reason.

What is the size of a spare for replacing a 20" wheel?

The 19 inch spare is what is used as a spare for the 20" factory wheels. The wheel is smaller but the tire when inflated is larger, so the rolling diameter is very similar to the 20" wheel and tire.

Right up until the time you need one. I was on a group drive in the middle of nowhere and that silly can of fix a flat got a driver to a repair shop.

Buy a fresh bottle of Slime and throw it in the frunk. Silly is good.

A rear flat would require a double change, front would have to be put on rear. The space saver can only go on the front, from what I understand. Still a lot better than not having a spare.
