Default Riviera Blue on non GT 911?

Is anyone of the opinion that Riviera Blue, or any of the other louder tones look out of place on a non GT3 or GT2, or perhaps on a Turbo? I read an article on Total911 that says just that. You don't see many Carrera's in the PTS blues and it has me wondering if there is some truth to that article.

I'm also wondering if those colors are so person specific that when it comes time to trade or sell your car you will wish you had GT Silver or White Metallic.

Thoughts?

PTS tends to be highly desirable and for some reason quite sought after in the secondary market.

I suspect the reason you don’t see as many on regular Carrara’s is due to cost (it’s not cheap) and availability of PTS builds.

No. The historic blues all had history on regular production 911s. To me, if anything, they’re more of a real throwback on a non-GT model. It’s a shame that Porsche carries such a bland color range outside the now outrageously priced PTS program.

It is a very nice color, but not what the previous posters are speaking about. Would night blue metallic be equally nice on a Volvo suv Or a Lincoln sedan? Absolutely. Now put Riviera or Mexico on either of those vehicles. Would you feel the same?

So the color wouldn’t look as good because the car has different bumpers? Or maybe a larger wing, or not? Different diameter rotors? Who’s going to notice those parts? Most people have no idea what the difference is.

Vibrant blues (since that’s what we’re talking about) lol great on the curves, the lines, the hips of the car. They all have them. Some folks even like the narrow ones. Blasphemy!

I am sure there are Riviera blue non-GT cars (not including the original 993 era cars which came in riveria), I know there are a number of Mexico blue cars (I can think of three) as well which is a similar color. I think riviera looks the best of that range of blues because it is softer and more pastel than Mexico. There are a couple of GT3 tourings in Riviera blue and I really like them. You have to be a Porsche person to tell a regular Carrera from a GT3T so I think it would look good on a Carrera.

In 2017 and 2018 when PTS was $5500 and $6700 on a Carrera, I think a few more people ordered it. Now that it is $11,xxx I don’t think people spring for it often outside of GT cars, turbos, and the occasional GTS or targa (ie higher sticker cars). I just saw a GTS coupe in Auratium (same color as my GT3T).

There is a Riviera blue for sale about two hours from me. No relation to the seller. https://www.porschegoldcoast.com/inv...bb2a95hs136541

Looks awesome, but a little more then I am comfortable spending.

That is a nice looking Targa; however, I am not as fond of the darker Blues (as compared to Miami Blue, Aetna, Gulf, etc.) as I used to be since more and more manufacturers are using Blues these days, and many shades are closer Mexico and Riviera. I know I am biased but I was going to PTS my Targa GTS in Mexico Blue until I saw a few Miami Blue cars in person; no one is using a shade of Blue similar to it.

To answer the OPs question, no, they do not look out of place and I would rather see bright/bold colors than Black, Silver & White.

There are a couple pictues of an S in Riviera blue on Rennbow. I like the brighter colors even on more pedestrian models. Lava Orange, Miami Blue, and Acid Green are three of my favorites no matter the model.

I recently looked at 991.1 S in Riviera Blue. Was willing to pay a decent premium because I love the color, it's different and fairly rare. Unfortunately for me it was a manual and I wanted a PDK.
