Default Loving Apple CarPlay but... irritated as well

Anyone else loving Apple CarPlay BUT forgetting their freakin' phone in the car. Argggh!

Options? But a second phone for the Porsche and leave it in there?

Ideas, please!

Just remember your phone. It's not hard. First world problems.

How does your car drive BTW? lol

I've found that if I put it in the cubby/on the antenna pad, I will pretty much always forget it. If I leave it on the seat, when I can, I'll remember it. Out of sight, out of mind thing...

Run the cable to the phone magnetically mounted on the above and you will have both CarPlay + Magnetic Mounting right in front of you making sure you never forget to unplug your phone when you leave.

Really wish 991s had wireless CarPlay like BMW, but seeing how buggy that is it’s probably for the best. Where do you plug in this charger?

PCM itself is buggy in the 991.2 which crashes often when interacting with CarPlay, I hope 992 had these bugs resolved.

For OP use, the T-Design9 Monaco Wireless Charger would not be powered, which means it will not be plugged in to anything. Just using the super heavy duty magnetic mounting capabilities + plugging into Lightning Port to activate CarPlay along with wired charging instead. - My buddy is doing this in his .2 GTS.

For those who don't want to use CarPlay, then the T-Design9 Monaco Wireless Charger will either be plugged into the USB port in the glovebox, or use the 12V power source at the passenger footwell. - I'm doing this in my .1 RS.

Both these setups work seamlessly with no problems whatsoever.

I tried the second "car dedicated" phone option so that I can keep CarPlay active (mostly for Waze, but also the V-1 app, Porsche TrackPrecission/Car Connect apps) but ran into one huge issue - PCM shuts off the bluetooth connectivity when CarPlay is active. So - any calls on your primary phone will no longer be handsfree while your car-phone is connected to CarPlay. Of course you could forward your primary to the car phone, but that sort of defeats the purpose of managing all of this effortlessly.

Has anyone figured out a fix for this ?

Not that I know of. But I will do a happy dance if/when they do.

Never had a single issue with it in my .2
Curious what others have experienced?

For most of my drives, including my daily commute, I prefer to connect via Bluetooth. The beauty of using BT is your phone can stay in your pocket, it will automatically connect to whatever audio you were last listening to (spotify for instance, which shows the album art). You can also take a phone call without touching the phone. So when I get out of the car at work, phone is still in my shirt pocket. I only use CarPlay for longer drives.

I have a magnetic phone mount and use Amazon Unlimited music. So it's Bluetooth, and all my commands are super easy over Alexa. Really pleased with this setup.

I went to T-Design's website and there are no mounting instructions. How does this charger / mount attach to the dash? Thanks.

If you aren't using the wireless charging and just using the magnet, you can save money with this version. It also shows how it mounts.
