The best Porsche 911 is currently the 991.1

I drive a manual gearbox BMW X3 as a commuter... Best car I've ever owned.
Regarding the subject of the thread: it is very subjective and up for anyone's interpretation. I applaud those who don't get offended and actually add to the thread, those who get offended need to get high and chill.
We all worked our asses off to be able to afford cars like these, we deserve it, and that makes each one of our cars the best car.
Enjoy what you have, be happy for your accomplishment.

What's keeping you from being a nice person? I wonder if you are this abrasive in real life.

GT3-Touring in a manual box would be best in my humble opinion.
that would be the only 911 I would trade my 991.2 GTS4 for, which is currently the best Porsche ever because it is in my garage and I LOVE it.

Best 911s...
Ruf CTR
997 RS 4.0
991.2 GT3
996.2 GT3
997.2 GTS
991.2 Carrera/T/S/GTS
...come to mind. Cars that made my personal list of favorite 911s.
But so does, further down the list, a Macadamia/tan 997.1 Carrera 6MT on 18s I drove years ago and a Guards Red 996.1 Carrera 6MT and a red supercharged 993 with RS suspension and a silver 996 C4S and an insane 2.0-liter 1968 911 T/R in blue, and any number of great older 911s. Point is, there are a lot of great 911s out there—and we're all lucky to drive any 911...particularly if it's one of the ones that shine a bit brighter to us.

Three Wheelin'
all 911s are the best, it's the other models that we need to gang up on and make fun of.
...especially the panamera. those things deserve some schoolyard ridicule. non-boxer, front engine??? four doors??? are you kidding me???

My 4th Porsche is my best/favourite one. Took a bit of practice with the first three to get it right.
991.2 Carrera T, manual, lowered and boosted to 480bhp. Nice.
991.1s are great cars too.
At the end of the day, all of us who drive Porsches are very fortunate. Cheers!

I thought the best Porsche ever was the air-cooled 993.

IMO the only thing the 991.1 has over the 991.2 is the sound of the engine. the rest is all better on the 991.2 no contest.

When I made my comment about the GT3 and the turbo, I meant to say that I'm unaware of any difference between the 991.1 and 991.2 model versions of those cars.
Again, I'm not a turbo or gt3 expert. Not having ready anything to the contrary in the press, I am unaware of any substantive difference between the 991.1 and 991.2 versions of those cars.

Some like having to rev an engine out. There is something to be said for that. Here's the thing though... Porsche has made the most infamous sports car for >50 years now. A 911 or any generation with (or without) any options just feels special and different. Honestly... if someone has a 996 then I don't know that a 100K upgrade to a 991.2 is going to net 100K additional ROI on emotional return. Someone else said it well that the best 911 is the one you get to drive whenever you want

^^^ Is there any other kind of transmission? No seats back there, or bread box on the exhaust now either. But it does have RAS, which made me forget my 981 CS in a couple seconds. COULDN'T be happier with it. Dead Man's Car.

But the .2 will blow the doors off the .1
wait a minute, a tesla just blew the doors off my .2
joking aside I had the same car as the op. Loved it until it started having problems. Traded for
new and it has so far been the most reliable vehicle I've ever had, I do miss the scream of the 3.4
Now if I had Leno's money, space and mechanics I would never have gotten rid of anything I've owned.
well maybe not the Morris garages products.
I think I would be happy with any reliable 911 from any year. All beautiful cars.
