Default Headlights film or heat or what cracks?

I purchased a used 2016 911 and my headlights both look like this picture. What is this? I only hand wash and keep covered. I think it happened when I left for service and was in the Texas heat for a few days. They seem to be on the surface and the edges seem intact. Not sure if previous owner put some type of film but I cannot detect anything on the not cracked edge. I saw someone post about mineral spirits and UV coating but not sure how to make this look better.

Delamination. Common issue with these. Go to the dealer and they should replace them under warranty.

Well documented “delamination” issue. Seems to happen if the headlights ever had a protective film on then - after getting removed apparently some of the UV protection is taken off as well & then the sun will do that. Do a search on here, plenty of information on it. Lots of dealers seem to honor warranty replacement of it. Do yourself a favor and look up windshield melting adhesive issue, changeover valves, and warped door panels while you are at it - not trying to scare you, just arm you with knowledge/awareness for addressing those should they come up. Good luck! -Dom

Thank you! I was worried the dealer would say the warranty was void because of film on lens is owners fault. I’m going to take it back into dealer based on y’alls suggestions.

I can confirm that this does indeed happen with no film ever involved. Both of mine were replaced under CPO warranty. I would recommend you don't mention any film, especially since you have no first hand knowledge that there ever was any film.

>>Seems to happen if the headlights ever had a protective film on then<<

This is not an accurate statement. The delaminating on the edges as shown in your pics has happened on numerous cars as reported in this forum that did not have an aftermarket film applied to them. I haven’t been keeping records, but my recollection is that most were replaced by the dealer, indicating that Mother Porsche acknowledges the problem.

Whether or not you can get the dealer to replace yours remains to be seen, but we wish you luck. Let us know the outcome.

My dealer says Porsche will not cover this problem if film has been applied. Some have found it can happen during application of PPF, about 10% of the time.
And it can happen even if no PPF was ever applied.
