Default Great deal on a previously damaged 991.2 GTS or steer clear.

Owner contacted a concrete barrier on the freeway during construction. Seems every day they are putting those things down and making the lanes skinny. Anyway he drifted into the barrier and the result was scratched rims and some body damage down the drivers side. I have the report from Alliotas Garage which is a certified Porsche body shop. They replaced the two wheels and a suspension component that they noted was not damaged but had to be replaced per Porsche guidelines when the wheel is damaged it was also out of alignment and got a 4 wheel realignment. The rest of the report is sanding soothing painting and blending. The car drives and sounds perfectly and I could not in the sunshine or in the garage with a flashlight detect the repair. It's still under warranty and the car was checked out by a dealer, realigned etc.

All in, including almost 8 grand for two new wheels the repairs were $26,000.

Carfax is clean.

There's a chance to get this for great great price. I don't know much about Porsches and don't know what that side contact could have done to it that could still be waiting to rear its ugly head. it was hard enough to damage the rims and flatten the tires but the airbags did not deploy. Also the warranty would cover any mechanical issued that could arise??

Thanks

How much do you think you would actually save? One note of caution, the Carfax may be clean today but anticipate that it might not tomorrow!

Is it graphite blue and being sold in california? If it's the one, the accident is reported on autocheck.

If you're willing to risk it appearing on carfax, buy it.

You’ll take a massive hit when you trade it in or sell it, unless you plan to keep it for a few decades. Pass on it.

The above responses are what I expected. I suspect this one is going to end up at an auction.

My biggest worry would be
if there was any frame damage done. It wouldn’t be a great value car if the frame was in any way affected by that crash incident because then the car wouldn’t be driving correctly

Link to the car? If you are not going to buy it may as well let someone else take a look at it.

I think some folks tend to overreact to things like this. I wouldn't worry about it. If it is under warranty and PDI by a Porsche dealership, I'd take it.

It's not like it was flooded or had a head on collision

What year? Do you have the factory build sheet? $30k off is quite a bit. Would be a good deal if you never have a problem with it. If you buy it and start having issues related to the accident, then I assume it would be up to you to cover the cost since it was accident related. That would suck. You could always try to sell it then. Can you swing buying a GTS that you want that is CPO and not been a MVA?

I look at it like this... the $30k savings would really depend on what i was saving it on. For instance, while shopping for mine I found a few clean very nicely equipped 2018 low miles(5-6K)cars in the $120k range so I would def buy that one for $90k if it were comparable and looked/dove just as well BUT If I was saving $30k on a 1k mile 2019 car priced at $150k I'd pass on the deal and buy an all original/never wrecked CPO 2018 5-6k mile car for the same price.

Im guessing this is the one you’re referencing, not sure if it’s the OP’s subject car. I was shocked to see this car pop up on my search for a Graphite car under $100k. Knew there had to be a hitch.

It seems likely the car in question is in fact the one above in the link by Nate2046 since Alioto's Garage in Folsom CA is a Porsche certified collision center and not too far from where the car is for sale. If so; note the auto check report describes
DAMAGE REPORTED DUE TO AN ACCIDENT OR COLLISION
VERY SEVERE DAMAGE REPORTED
BODY REPAIR PERFORMED
MECHANICAL REPAIR PERFORMED
also the car is NOT offered as CPO and the.car is now for sale 1 month and 100 miles. after the accident.

You need to be focused on the discount below the current market value. Not discount below original MSRP. I presume the 30k mentioned is from MSRP. You are mixing together normal depreciation and damage depreciation if you look at it that way. Figure out what the market value is for that used car without ever being damaged. Then look for a discount off of that. It it were me I would seek 20pct discount at least, knowing whoever I eventually sell it to will expect the same.
