Default C40 Engine Oil Specification

We just got a 201 991.2 GTS and I actually read the manual this time. Noticed that it calls for C40 Engine Oil. Googled that and nothing that I can find has the C40 specification. Called Porsche and they said they don't provide technical information. I'm going to stop by the dealership tomorrow but I was wondering if folks with a 2019 GTS are using C40 or the old standard A40. Thanks in advance.

Search some post in our 997 form from Charles Navarro.. It's well-documented over there.

I was just coming back to say the same thing. The first time I searched I didn't find that. Then after asking my question I searched again and found the 718 posting. Great Information! Thanks

The technical bulletin is very interesting. 991.2 without GPF still take A40 but 718 take C40.

So what do you do if your in the USA. I don’t think that oil specification is available yet. I was extremely happy to see that the 991.2 can still use A40.

I recently got a 2019 GTS coupe and my owner's manual calls for C40 engine oil. Was going to do an early oil change after break-in, but can't seem to find a source for this oil. Have you heard of anyone finding a source in the US for the C40 oil?

Just following up on this since the manual for my GT3RS also specifies C40 5W40 oil. But nobody actually makes C40 approval in 5W. The closest is Mobil 1 ESP X3 in 0W40. And it's specifically for cars with the particulate filter. Since USA cars don't have this filter and no C40 oil is available in the USA, A40 is gonna have to do. Especially since A40 was fine for the same engine/car last year lol

Yes, if you don’t have GPF, use a40, at least that is what I would do (and do on my 18 GT3). 5w50 because lexvan.

All the new USA cars have the GPF but there is no sensor hooked up to them. But in the manual C40 is what is recommended. So far 3 choices in the USA Mobil, Motul and Liqui Moly
