Please post your viscosity info too; SUS at 210F and cSt at 100C.

Question: Is that bad news that the SUS Viscosity @210 was low? Also, same question for the cST Viscosity @ 100C. Thanks

Yeah, those are terrible viscosity values. Your Mobil 0W40 has sheared down to below a 30 weight oil. This is classic Mobil 0W40 shearing. For comparisons, you can review my 5.5 years worth of UOA data here in this Forum.

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8103...-on-991-a.html

You need to switch your oil to something like Porsche A40 approved Mobil 5W50. Or one of the many 5W40 approved flavors.

You can use the Mobil 0W40 if you drive in the winter.

You NEVER want to see below an 11.

Is Motul 5/40 X-Cess approved for Porsche. I saw that it said A40 on the container but did not see it on the Porsche approved list for 2015. Thanks

Now that the viscosity #'s are out, you can rest assured they will be on CarFax, and you can kiss the resale value of that car goodbye.

I'm torn on what oil to use

Mobil 1 - 0W-40
Mobil 1 - 5W-50
Motul X-cess - 5W-40

The comment from Blackstone regarding viscosity. "The oil's viscosity is a touch thin, but that's not a big deal, especially since there's no fuel dilution present and it
didn't bother internal wear."

Regarding carfax and resale value. LOL. How does Blackstone link the report to my VIN?

Car still within OEM warranty period?

Then nothing to worry about.

Carry on.

Easy. You live in NY. Use Mobil 5W50. If you drive in the winter, switch over to 0W40 for those months.

You can tell from the UOA that he did not add any oil additive. You'd be able to see it.
I'd say he does not drive many short distance trips, because he has no water in his oil UOA. A good sign. He's clearly getting the car up to temp, using the RPM band (oil has sheared, zinc and phosp are low), and driving some longer runs.

I’m with LeVan. Car came with 0w40, lots of lifter ticking noise. Changed to 5w50, a little better. Now I use Liqui Moly 5W40 a A40 approved oil. No more lifter ticking at cold start even after sitting for a week.
I have not done any analysis, I should, but happy the embarrassing noise is gone.
