Cobb is working on one, but as a PDK owner I often wonder what a PDK tune can actually do? Why do you all want or need a PDK tune?

i dont have sport chrono and assume a tune would provide faster more aggressive shifts.

Turn the **** to sport + and the car shifts right near red line. If you keep it in manual it shifts as fast as you can pull the paddle. Still don't really get it.

My car produced quite a bit more torque (it is tuned) and may require more clutch pressure which could be accomplished with a PDK tune, so for that I get it.
Also, you can increase the rpm's and boost on launch to achieve better 0-60, but other than that I just dont understand the need.

assuming Cobb were to release a PDK tune, would it probably be installed via their accessport?

You're upping the power and torque being routed through the transmission. Transmission tune from the factory is setup for factory power (clamp force, pressure values, actuation parameters, cooling, etc.).
Those values are not set optimally for a car with increased power output. It'll work, but you're not gonna be able to advantage of everything.

Transmission tune would help manage the power better, helping performance and make the car drive a bit better.

Default PDK vs 3 pedal on a 991.2

IMO, over the long run the PDK will prove to be as reliable or more, compared to a three pedal car.

Hard to prove such as numbers to back the assumption aren't available.

Boils down to use/abuse. For a manual, items that wear out would likely relate to the clutch pressure plate, throw-out bearing and maybe the flywheel. But that's not reliability.

Porsche would know but they're not going to say.

I have the PDK tune from Cobb on my .1 TTS. Improved shifting in all modes from Normal auto to Sport Plus manual. Morer elongated shift pattern in normal auto so you are not in 7th gear at 35mph and much quicker, direct similar to GT3 in Sport and Sport Plus in manual mode.

What does this have to do with someone asking for PDK tune?

And when it comes to fixing one I would rather have the manual, which I do, rather than replacing the entire PDK.

Wasn't there a recent spate of messages where the owner of a manual had to replace the whole transmission just to get the rear mirror and back up lights to work?

We all forget that the manual and PDK come from the same design
