Default Checking my thinking on new tires

The P-zeros are almost done. Debating between SC2's or PS4S. Use is DD in PHX, so very little to no rain and I drive my truck when rain threatens. The biggest issue (other than wear and noise) is that it appears difficult to get SC2's up to temperature (outside of a track) and so the PS4S seem to be the right choice for DD. However wanted to throw it out there and see if anyone has a differing viewpoint.

Hello OP. We live in the same city. I run SC2 and I think they're great for our roads and climate. The roads are scorching hot so it keeps the rubber nice and soft.. Speaking of rubber, the SC2 look very nice and meaty. Since we have super smooth and clean roads, the tires dont get beat up and they really do last. My driving style chewed up the Pirellis. It suits the cup 2 more and they're seemingly lasting quite well.

The PS4S are not bad or subpar by any means but I think its better to get the extra bite of the Cup 2. Especially considering your car will not be driven in the rain. I would suggest the PS4S if you were living up north in the Flagstaff area.

8000 on mine and looking even across the tire, I think you are over inflated, what are your pressures?

Edit: thanks for the post OP, subscribed

I find the PS4S look weird on the front tire. The p-zero have a lip that looks better IMO.

I'm in Phoenix & have PS4S. Only 3,000 miles on my CS2 so far but, they are great tires.
In Summer I fill to 32 F & 34 R for CTP.
In Winter 30F & 32 R.

Not de-rail the topic on the original tire suggestions but did you consider the Potenza RE980AS?

That's me as well.

I switched to the P4S for my Cayman S last year before I sold it. They replaced the stock Goodyears (IIRC). Wow what a difference.

That's about what I got. My Michelin PS4S tires now have 10K miles and plenty of thread o top of being much more pleasurable tires.

Those pressures seem reversed - correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t best practice to run lower in the summer due to thermal expansion, and higher pressure in the winter for the lack there of?

Can't imagine he'd want an all-season over the PS4S given his climate.

That being said...

The RE980AS is a PHENOMENAL tire. I can't say enough good things about it. I ran them over the winter. We don't get snow but we do get tons of rain and below freezing temperatures. These tires give my Carrera the confidence of a mountain goat. They utterly shame any other all-season tire I've ever owned. And that includes the Pilot Sport A/S 3+.

I wish I could get the BS’s for my GTS without changing Wheels. Even though they make the right size they won’t work on my wheels.

I decided to pony up and bought my setup from Tire Rack. O.Z. Leggera HLTs wrapped with RE980s.

Since I have a QuickJack in the garage and do a lot of wheel swapping with my other vehicles it made enough sense to run a full separate set for winter.
