The ducktail is permanently mounted and does not close and lift. It’s very easy to unscrew to replace taillights. I have the Aerokit cup, and the rear spoiler is a duck tail, with a spoiler mounted on it.

Duck tail needs to be removed to access tail lights. Two large torx screws should be pretty obvious when you open engine lid. Once you remove it slides forward or back, pops off and then disconnect third brake light to completely remove.

Yes i know how to replace the tail lights as I saw it on YouTube.

But from my understanding , the tail lights bolts are under the ducktail panel? How do I access the bolts on a car equipped with the ducktail.

I’m taking delivery of the car next week, so I’m just preparing to swap the clear for the red.

Thank you, do you know how hard it is to remove the ducktail panel in order to access the tail lights bolts?

Very easy... No more than 5 minutes. Tail lights are also easy/obvious as well to remove. A DIY project for any novice to tackle.

Pop the engine cover. There will be two screws, just above the duck tail. You will see it, at each corner. Once you unscrew those, push the entire spoiler forward, towards the back window. Itlll shift enough that you can prop each side and have access to the bolts on top of the tail lights. It’s very easy.

I went into the garage real quick to take a pic. When you pop the engine cover, you will see the circled screws. Unscrew it, then push/slide the wing unit away from you, towards the back window. Then, you can lift it up from the front. But the middle light cable is plugged in. You can unplug it or leave it. I had enough clearance to accces my lights.

Thank you for your DIY with photo. I appreciate it. I’m glad to hear I don’t have to remove the whole ducktail.

When you say push toward the rear window , do you mean the ducktail panel will move foward like if it was on rail or do I have to lift the back of it like if we were to open the trunk of a car?

Thank you again!

Not a problem! Yes, push it like it’s on rails, because it is on a couple of guides. Once you push it forward, it’ll feel like a puzzle fell apart, you’ll know when you can lift it up.
