Default Quick Insurance Question

Good Morning,

My daughter just turned 16 and when adding her and the car I bought her to my policy, her rate on her X3 is reasonable, however it has really raised the rates on my 911 and four other cars we own. Reason being of course is that want her insured on all vehicles across the board and won't allow me to exclude her on the Porsche. I was considering moving the Porsche to its own policy, and looks like same terms with Progressive is beating my Nationwide rate by about $1,000. Just wondering if anyone has their 911 insured with Progressive and feel comfortable with them a carrier on that vehicle.

Thanks in advance.

If your daughter qualifies, make sure you are getting the good student discount (B average).

My children are allowed to drive all the cars in my household, including the Porsches, even though they don't. My rate is unaffected. State Farm. I'm sure each state and company differ.

I have my kids included on 2 and excluded on 2, Porsche as one of the excluded.

Was easy to do. They don’t need to be on all 4 and certainly not on a 911 at this point in their driving career.

Just move the Porsche and any other vehicles she won’t drive onto a separate policy, you may have to write the policy with a different carrier if they’re unwilling to exclude her.

My son was specifically excluded from coverage on one of my cars to keep cost in check. Seems a reasonable solution that I would expect most insurers to allow.

Default interesting Question

I have state farm. They wont exclude my wife who cant drive a stick. I have 3 cars with stick. What companies will write a policy that excludes household members ? The homeowners 15% discount in Florida has kept me from leaving as when ive priced other companies its always withing 15%.

Thank baby Jesus you don't have a 16 year old son needing car insurance. Now, go hug your daughter.

I would get rates from others like you did from Progressive. The coverage and service from the big companies is similar but rates are not. I still can't find anyone to beat Geico and the service from them has been great.
Don't lose your multi car discount by having to write another policy as it is not necessary. I had my sons (even worse) on my policy but excluded from the Porsche until they exited cave man maturity.

I have my cars insured through AMICA. When my son (yes son) turned 16, they automatically based his rate on the lowest valued car on my policy, even though that's not the car he is the primary driver on. He is also able to drive any car on the policy. When we added him, my insurance went up about $1,000 per year. That is based on multi-car discounts, claims free discounts, and house/auto both with Amica, as well has "good student" discount (3.0 GPA or better).

I have been very happy with Amica. Most friends I recommend getting a quote with them end up switching to Amica.

I recently did just this! In California, the new rules for car insurance in a family are. The kid gets rated on the fastest car. So by ME buying a 911 GTS, my rate went up 3500 annually. I was forced to leave my insurance and get my own policy elsewhere. Which put my car CHEAPER than it was before the new law price hikes here in California.

I called the Porsche body shops and asked each one if Geico, Progressive, or mercury was easy or difficult to work with and I **** you not. Most of them said Geico was the EASIEST for them to get what they want done. They told me Allstate, was the nickle and dimer.

So I went to Geico with my 19 GTS and feel comfortable that if I do get in an accident, Im with the lower cost carrier who seems to get along with Porsche body shops quiet well.

YMMV, but thats how I did mine a few months ago when I got my GTS.
