Agreed. Reach out to Daniel and show him the pics. I've bought lots of trim pieces from him and he's been a pleasure to work with and has replaced pieces that didn't meet either of our standards after installation.

I got a reply from Daniel and I’m confused and disappointed. What do make of his reply

“Thanks very much for your follow up on this Mario, hope you had a great weekend.

Ok I see, well we never do that side edge area... but wondering why it´s not black at all the sides like we ever do it, not good. But we do it ever black at the sides to not cause fitment issue due to the thickness and also because of it´s usually an very small gap you can´t really look trough... the gap at yours seems to be super large matched to the attached sample OEM interior picture and what we´ve seen from other interiors at this series!?

For the door trim linings, this is an add on solution we do manufacture out of an mould - it has to be centered at the front and rear end - the vinyl doors ever does have slightly different dimensions that´s why we have to create them like that. These were dry test fitted?

With best regards and talk to you soon,
DB Carbon
Daniel

I replied to this by saying

Hi Daniel

The sides are not black on the center console you sent me, they are rough sanded. It is obviously not finished. The door trims cannot be centered they cannot be moved further in as they fit into the groove as pictured below, and the passenger side has imperfections in the carbon weave.

Please address these problems

Thank you

He is saying they never do the sides in CF due to thickness, but forgot to paint it black.

As for thé door trim, it doesn’t look like you dried fitted them . It’s installed already with double sided tape ? So yeah, the fitment is not good.

Either ways , both pieces has obvious defect . He will exchange Im sure.

I hope so, I may have not understood his reply because of the translation, and because I just woke up. The thing is I pushed the door trim as far over as it can go, it has to lie in the groove as you can see in the picture, you can get caught on it and snap it off. Also he didn’t address the damaged weave in his email.

these items are expensive, not made in China knock offs. I don’t mind spending the money on my car because I want it to look good.

Pushed over as far as it can go

Will definitely get caught on that and snap it off when getting in the car

Weave imperfections

Unpainted sides

So this is Daniels reply, no mention of replacing defective carbon fibre weave at all!! and he wants me to have the centre console repaired?

“With the center console, it´s really a shame - we totally missed an part of our usual work on that piece. We need to ask for an return or can offer an local overwork to be covered from our side if it´s more comfortable for you and to speed up things.

With the door trim linings we can´t change that - the vinyl doors are sadly all not 100% the same and we ever created them out of the same mould since several years now, some fit exactly, some not like yours - they´ve to be middled and placed a bit further to the front end. Hope you can understand our issue with that case.

my reply to Daniel

Hi Daniel

One of the door trim has defect in carbon fibre weave, you haven't addressed this, please see pictures below. This is poor quality I cannot leave this on my car, and they both are too long and don’t fit. The centre console is unfinished

I expect better from your company

Dainiel I spent almost $500US on the door trim and another $500 US for the centre console and the quality, finish and fit of everything is poor. I would expect that you would replace everything.

I dont get it, now he is saying the defect in the carbon fibre will be in all pieces, it optical. Then why is it not in the drivers side trim. I feel I’m getting the run around, shouldn’t he just replace and include paid return shipping and I will send back defective stuff. I really dont appreciate this kind of customer service, I was better off buying off Amazon or EBay or Alibaba, because if I didnt like it they would replace without question or run around!

“No question for the console Mario.

For the door trim linings beside an replacement for the right side, wanted to discuss the base first - since these will be all the same, expect of an optical issue now. We´ve made and sold hundreds of those - don´t want to put the fault on an third party, but the vinyl doors have often different dimensions...

With best regards,
DB Carbon
Daniel

Sorry to hear about the hustle.. but did you really paid 500$US for the door trims ? Ouch

Now I know why you expect a perfect product.

My 170$US trim from Alibaba looks better & fits better. I even got an extra trim cuz I complained about a little flaw. Lol

Your trim CF pattern was layed too stretched showing the resin in between/ in the back.

As for thé length , do you want me to measure my trim? I can post tonight after work. You can compare with yours & see if you have a bad one.

I just feel like I’m getting the run around from all his emails or there’s no way I should expect a quality product or fitment. I ordered from him based on Rennlist, I would expect him to say no problem we’ll send you INSPECTED replacements and paid return shipping for me to return defective products…..

Somewhat a related question -
wasn't the plastic silver trim standard for both dash and doors on 991's? or was the silver door trim a separate option? standard only with leather interiors?
(Equipment code was - 812 DECORATIVE DOOR PANEL TRIM, GALVANISED)

After reading the problems recently mentioned think I will buy the OEM centre console carbon surround. I was contemplating purchasing off DB but the brush off you have received has changed my mind.

I have a 2012.5 991.1 and I don't have full leather, and I don't have door silver trim. I do have dash trim though. I honestly didn't realize that until I read this thread...because I was too busy driving it. But compared to my Macan Turbo...yeah..it looks plain.

OK, Thanks! So the door trim was standard on Full Leather interior but not on vinyl.

Ok so after a few more emails with Daniel, he is sounding much better. I have agreed to fix the console trim locally at my cost, to which he will provide compensation for this and my inconvenience that is more than generous. He will send me a replacement passenger door trim to replace the defective one, and I will readjust the install of them to be pushed in more so they do not stick out at the doors edge.

I will keep you posted to see if this follows through. Thanks everyone for your support and listening to me 😁

Am glad to hear things turned out favorably.

Been dealing with Daniel for years now and never had an issue with him.

Thumbs up.
