License Plate Mounted over Center gap on Carrera T...

Like many of you here I detest the local law of a mandatory front license plate. The Porsche plate screws into the bumper and I'm not super fond of the look of the plate holders that screw into the tow hook.

My new CT has a closed centre grill (non-PDK so no 3rd radiator) so I've crimped the plate so it fits perfectly into the centre area. Next step is the Scotch Heavy-Duty Double-sided tape to secure it in.

It's kind of a "Euro" look, right?

Thoughts? Comments?

P.s. I don't like the top plate screw holes showing so I'm planning on putting some white plastic backing in there.

I like it better than many alternatives! I am still going naked until I get called on it... So far, so lucky!

Just be careful of the laws in your area - law enforcement may consider what you did altering of your plate. Silly, I know, but that is law enforcement.

If you look at my avatar, I did the same thing. I used zip ties to attach it to my center grill. No issues whatsoever - have had it there for years.

Looks good OP actually especially if that doesn't restrict any airflow to radiators. Does anyone know if the powerkit equipped 991.2 Carrera S/4S or GTS have the 3rd radiator standard with both pdk and manual transmissions?

My .2 PDK Targa with factory Powerkit does not have the center radiator.

Thanks - so will try to put plate there

I did the magnetic license plate holder. It’s a bit of work as you will need to remove the front bumper, but once done it’s super clean and you can take it out in a second. Come check out mind at Dundarave this Sunday.

FYI, in BC you're not supposed to alter the plates in any way, including bending...that being said, mine is bent too!

Thanks guys.

Here's my latest iteration that I think looks good. Yes Speed2K - the plate is twice bent BUT it keeps the bumper nice and free of anything.

P.s. All this being said and done, I've not peeled off the plastic cover to reveal the sticky side of the double-sided tape and secured it on! I think I'll just go "Rambo" without the front-plate for another while.

KP993 (Ken) - I'll see you this weekend at the Dundarave Show & Ride. You coming to my Le Mans 24 Hours Finish Espresso Breakfast at 5:30am? :corn:

If you must have a front plate that is where I would put it, unless of course the cops told me it did not pass muster. When I lived in Maryland I never put front tags on and I was only stopped once, at the base in Virginia!

Yep.. totally up to you local officer.. :)

Nice car Quattroboy - I don't know if I've seen you around at events. You come out to PCA drives?

Anyways, I've stayed away from a front decal as the local police, when in pissy moods, have ticketed people for that.

For the moment, I'm going Rambo naked on the front and take my chances!

Hi Zeus993;

The only events I've been to is the track day at Area 27 last summer and Dundarave show. Haven't been out on any drives as of yet, but planning to.
