Who drives with their wing up? I do it all the time now and even PARK with it up.. I know this upsets many 911 owners and enthusiasts. Even random spiteful car guys.

You know what? Its deployed early and often on the .2 and it actually looks so much better.

I couldn't do it in a 992 with the clamshell rear
Our neighborhood is home to a community of young car enthusiasts who drive tricked-out small Japanese cars with lowered suspensions, noisy exhausts, performance engine modifications and oversized rear-deck spoilers. Teachers in a local school, long irritated by the noise of the little cars buzzing around neighborhood streets and the school parking lot, coined a disparaging nickname for the spoilers. They call them handles as in, “You know, that little toy Honda with the handle on the back.”

This description has stuck with teachers and parents from the neighborhood including our family. When my wife and I walked into the Porsche dealer’s showroom to order our car, she spotted a 911 with a large spoiler and said to me, “Remember, you promised that we aren’t getting one of those with a handle.” That description has stuck in my head and every time I see a Porsche or some other car with a spoiler driving on the city streets it’s impossible not to chuckle. Thankfully for me, my wife has never seen our C4S with its retractable handle in the extended position.

Huh? The oil/coolant caps are NOT exposed with the spoiler (or whatever you want to call it) extended...worst case is I guess they can pop those caps off and unscrew your taillights??

On a drive day in the mountains, when, I'm frequently dropping hitting the up/down thresholds, I'll often hit the up button and leave it up for the drive cycle.. For other daily driving, not so much.

Mine is in auto. My neighbor has a black 991.1 S similar to mine and he leaves his up 24/7/365. I always give a little groan and shake my head when he pulls out but whatever, it's not my car.

Do what you want, but they are fugly. The 992 even worse. Ruins the perfect smooth lines of the car. I'm glad I don't have to see mine while I am driving. I just let it do its thing in auto.

The 991.2 wing raises around 30 mph.. So it's up most of the time anyway.. I wonder how many people shake their heads and groan..

Last night somebody in a Model X did not like that my car was around his. Slowed down immediately when I just got ahead of him and stayed far back. Further down the road he caught up as I caught a brief red light.. When I made my turn I noticed his wing was up this time. The awareness within other drivers is real.

Agreed. Was designed to be down. Couldn't really care much less about what people do though.
