Default reapplying rear badging

I'd like to remove the "911 Carrera GTS" off the rear of my car and install only the "GTS" under the PORSCHE badge. Can I reapply it or must I buy a new one? Will double side tape do the trick?

Buy new from Sunset Porsche.

And depending on your car's age, color, and condition, you may need to polish the rear bumper slightly to remove any ghosting from the old badge.

On the question of badging, I have noticed when looking for used 991's that some have the rear badging in a completely different style.

The PORSCHE letters are much closer together and the model designation below is sometimes in a different order.

What is the reason for this? Does it indicate a replacement rear bumper?

Thank you.

Maybe, maybe not. If you are looking at a specific model you can look online and see what was OEM for that particular year/model. Some people like to change it though and even Porsche offers several options and colors for rear emblems.

I reused an emblem on a past car because I wanted it Black and it only came in Chrome so I removed it, painted it and after I cleaned the old 3M tape off I reapplied new 3M tape and put it back on; however, it is a lot easier to buy a new one in your case.

You can reuse the letters. It will take some goo gone and elbow grease. You'll also have to carefully cut the two sided tape. Here's mine nicely lined up:

If you can find a Porsche certified body shop they likely have the official templates for laying down the badging.

Need the template because it is never 100%. Otherwise it looks like you stole it off someone else's car.

If one is doing all of the emblems, or most, the template is very helpful; however, the OP just wants to put "GTS" on, which he should be able to do without a template. Just take your time, measure and lay them out first with some tabs of tape to be sure that is where you want them and put them on.

i took mine off and changed it to black without a template. use blue painters tape and mark where it went. it should be easy to find the exact center of the bumper before you remove it, and place the gts accordingly.

Thanks everyone. I'll order a new GTS badge and take my time doing it. I don't see it being a problem.

I see you went with North American pronunciation, bold move but I like it.
