Default Looking for more power!

Love my 2016 911S but I have been wishing it had another 50-100hp. Do I trade up to 2017-18 991.2, GT3 or Turbo? I prefer not to spend another 50K but the heart wants what the heart wants. Has anyone else been in this situation?

No.

I have my alets set for 100mph and 130mph, the 100mph alert frequently triggers and my next alert for 130mph is usually never far behind.

You'll love the Turbo. I've driven the .2 and its beautiful. What price are willing to pay for this "need"? Only you can answer.

Yep. Traded my 15 C2S for a 2 year old leftover new 17 C2S 11 months ago. Immediately had dealer install the X51 PowerKit at a great pre-negotiated price. I'm lovin the power and grunt. With 25% more torque with a big broad curve, it drives more like a muscle car, but handles even better than the 15did, with its Sport Pkg and wide rear tires. Might go COBB Stage 2 in 1-2 years for nearly another 100 ponies and 100 ft-lbs, when it has 15k-20k miles. It scratched my itch.

The GT3 is another kind of animal altogether in terms of track worth capability and roadworthy compromise. If you can live with it its hard to beat as a sports car. A Turbo is another kind of animal in the other direction. Supreme performance at the cost of offering a sense of achievement lost. It'll out accelerate and out handle away anything below a supercar so easily and without fuss that it may get boring. If you can live with it its hard to beat as a sports/GT car. Thats why a lot fo people claim the 991.2 S or better yet, GTS, is the best of all worlds. Good luck.

I'm going to have to start test driving so I know exactly what I want. I have never driven a GT3 or a turbo.

The 16 S is a fine car but there's no way you can get another 50-100hp.. You'd have to step into a 991.2 or 991.1 Turbo.

Stay in lower gears and use your paddles to get that stronger pull. The .1 definitely lugs in lower RPMS.

The Turbo (big boy) models are so quiet, smooth, and fast you'll be doing 100+ before you even have time to look down.

50HP is on the optimistic side with the full bolt on recipe. Otherwise you can stroke.

50HP recipe:
Tune
Headers
Plenum
Catback
BMC filters

It's 100hp if you add the marketing numbers.... lol.

Plenum 1,000
Catback 4,000
BMC filters 200

FWIW, this is 10K or more in just parts!... I'm jealous the news cars make more on just a tune!

That would be a really fun car to drive but you might wake up the neighbors lol.

Honestly, even though the .1 is a bit slower it's extremely fun constantly going heavy on the throttle and hearing the noises.

Mine is pretty tame with the valves closed on the exhaust. The biggest change is the midrange pull and the linearity when the cam comes on and the power dip is eliminated.

Honestly my 987 is more "fun" now.... Same recipe but add a throttle body. It also has Ohlins, the full tarett catalogue, ff1 engine mount, TPC sways and numeric shifter w/ cables. It's not for the faint of heart and the power is down on the 911 but you FEEL everything. The 400/460 springs on the coilers are also no joke.

Power just increases your threshold like an addict. Sound, revs and feeling never get old.

Like you said, you'd need a wheel time with both. 2 different cars altogether.

Unless you want a manual, and if so the GTS is the car to get, drop top of course to better hear the power you crave.

True. Being a MT guy if it's a GTS or a GT3, I'd go manual for sure. In a Turbo, however I'd opt for the PDK. Just my experience. Like I said to make a choice which would stand the time one needs to drive all the options.
