Default Any one own or driven both 991.1 and Boxter s?

Had a 3.4 911.1 stick and I have to admit it was a fun car to drive being stick and the fast reving 3.4 motor. Given the boxster s has the same motor, is the engine characteristics the same?

I had a '12 Cayman S before my '13 C2S. The engines have similar characteristics, with the Carrera S engine of course having more power, but it's amazing hearing the engine in the Boxster/Cayman screaming right behind you.

Both of mine are pretty well tuned with everything you can do short of more displacement or boost. Not even close to the reported gains of a boosted car but substantial difference in experience vs stock. That being said, these are from different generations and 991 has PDK vs 987.2 has manual. The 991 is way more capable in every way but also way softer. The 987.2 has full tarret catalog, Ohlins coilovers with 400/460 spring rates, bushings, etc. Shifter is numeric with numeric cables. Engines both have plenum (TB on 987), tune, filters, FVD headers etc. My 991 3.8 seems to rev free-er and smoother but the 987 is like having a string tied to your toe where there is a mechanical correspondence with throttle and revs. The 987 is also way stiffer with the suspension, bushings, etc. Even though the 991 is way softer, the chassis and suspension is light years stiffer and its exceedingly more planted. Just so different and so wonderful in very different ways.

Thanks for the feedback. I was referring to specifically the 991.1 3.4 motor and the 2014 Boxster S 3.4 motor. They use the same one. Anyone with this combo? Clutch and flywheel should be the same right?

Had a 991.1 3.4 and a boxster s ltd ed2 with extra power and sport exhaust. The 991.1 had standard exhaust but sounded better. The boxster did not seem to breath or scream like the 991.1. Boxster was the wifes sleigh. I Did not drive it much but when I did it was driven hard. It would pull your neck out of joint. Boxster just seemed restricted engine wise, but what a go-cart.

Quick Reply: Any one own or driven both 991.1 and Boxter s?
