Default Thoughts on black-on-black color scheme for 991.2?

Hey everyone. I've been hunting around for a lightly used 991.2 (Base, or possibly S...). I'm typically a guy that tends to go for pretty conservative looks, so my eye naturally tends toward gray, black, blue, silver, with brushed aluminum wheels. (favorite color is the ever-so rare chalk, but I digres...) I've seen a few nice CPO Carerras come up that had the black with black wheels look. While it may not be might very first choice, I'm not opposed to it. I know tastes are totally subjective, I get that, but I'm wondering for when people have seen 911's rolling around with black on black, what their impressions were. Did it only look good to your eye in the perfect condition, or was it pretty appealing?

Thanks

Two questions:

1. How much time do you have for car washing?

2. Is your family name Vader?

I bought a black 991.2 coupe. Had it for a year. As far as the look goes, it's great when clean, but it was NEVER clean. As soon as it was washed it started getting dirty. I really LIKE detailing my cars so I thought I'd be OK with black but I finally gave up and flipped it last spring. Guards Red all day now. So, for me, never, ever again. Just something to consider. You may not have that ridiculous obsession with keeping it clean. Then good for you. Go for it.

My two cents-

IF you find the right car but are unsure of the wheels just give it a shot. If you end up not liking them it is reasonable to color change wheels price wise. You may end up really looking something a little different than you normally do.

I think they look awesome - black on black with black wheels ... timeless, sporty and aggressive, and, I would never do it again. As many have said, it will look incredible on the rare occasion that is it clean.

Thanks for the input fellas. That is exactly the type of perspectives I was looking for. I live in Washington State, and it wouldn't be a daily driver for me, and would have a nice spot in the garage next to my Colorado. While I appreciate a clean car, I am a bit averse the thought of over-the-top care simply due do the color combo. I was also a little concerned that perhaps the black wheels on everything look has maybe jumped the shark a bit, and would look dated in say 5 years.

I rock it as a daily. Blacks my favorite color though. And I enjoy detailing. I did swap my wheels out though. The murdered out look got boring.

Black on black is by far the sexiest color combo.

I went metallic blue on black. And I love it. But I have a thing for blue.

And still I think black on black is incredible.

Yeah, it’s work. No different than the dark blue really. But it’s a labor of love.

Otherwise, silver on black all day.

Default I

I have black-on-black, with black rims (on a 991.1), and I love it. I questioned it at first, but once I had them on, it just works. I do have silver rims, as well, and they have the summer tires on them, and the black rims are for the all-season (soon to be winter) tire use, so I change up looks. But I'm a sucker for black cars, and yeah, washing them frequently is a must. It is much quicker to wash then the black Avalanche parked next to it in the garage, so there's that....

very funny. I almost bought a black 991.1. I decided against it since I am not a good detailer.

I really dislike black rims on any color car -- that's a personal taste thing -- but you shouldn't have too much trouble with a black car if you get the paint corrected and then fully wrap it.

love this thread... i am just about to close on a new 2018 c2s black on black... while i already have a black e92 335 coupe and at first was not sure on another black car, the options on this car were just too perfect to pass up (pasm, sport pack, 18w seats, ras, led lights)

i am having it ppf'ed and ceramic coated before it leaves the dealership so i am less worried about keeping this one clean than my e92
