Trading my Panamera Turbo S for 991 4s or gts
So over the past few months I have really been thinking about trading in my 2012 Panamera turbo s for a 991 4s or gts. I have a few exhaust mods and tune on my Panamera. 800 hp. It runs GOOD! Pulls hard! I’ve wanted a 911 for so long. But I have a 6 year old and the Panamera makes it so much easier getting him in and out of. I did drive a 2015 4s and it was amazing. Sounded great. But just didn’t have near the power the Panamera has. Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation or has some advice or pointers for me.

911 rear seats aren't really useful for people or even kids. I think a 6 year old should fit fine though its not something you'd want to do much.
I had considered a panamera and driven a base model as a loaner. The handling difference is really noticeable... panamera drives like a large sedan with considerable body roll and heft, but its got lots of satisfactory power. The strong point is its a large 4 door family car and you're obviously giving that up with a 911. If you got another family hauler, go for it...only car? I wouldn't.

I have a cayenne as my daily driver. I’ve had a base Panamera 4 I upgraded almost 3 years ago for this turbo s. I keep it in sport mode 99% of the time and always in the lowest suspension mode. It’s very firm. Not as firm as a 911. But it’s tight. I think just lack of power is the thing I wil miss the most. But the 911 is much lighter and more nimble.

I’ve also thought about just finding a 996 style 911 and getting that to curb my appetite for a 911 while keeping the Panamera. But im affraid of the bearing issue, I think it is.

Well I have a 4 GTS and no 911 except the GT2 RS will pull like a Panamera with 800 HP. The 911 is a completely different driving experience in its own right. Very very rewarding. I dont think you’ll be disappointed unless you’re drag racing. I’m very happy and I came from a C7 Z06/Z07.

No. Not drag racing. Just open highway cruising. Don’t get into much racing anymore. Just looking for something to have fun in. Not that the Panamera isn’t. Just exploring my options.

No I haven’t really made up my mind yet. It’s tough though. Downsizing power and size for classic styling and something that you know is going to gain in value at some point. Where as this Panamera is depreciating and I’m not sure what they will do. It’s njst me and my son, for the moment. So no one else in the seat in front of him. But at some point he’ll be able to ride up front with me.

I decided I would much rather have a sports car that I can track a few times a year (drive it how it was meant to be driven).
My guess is a 800HP Panamera would lose to a 450 HP 911 on the track. You are carrying too much weight and the car will roll too much.
While the 911 might not pull as much as Panamera, you will huge the road.
Get a 911 with SC, PDCC, PSE, RAS... Either 450PH or tune it for more. You will love driving on the streets, and you can track the car to see what it can really do.
Panamera is an awesome car. 911 is an awesome sports car.

I wasn’t intending to get 800 hp. It just came with the tune. Downpipes and resonator delete. That’s it. I don’t track the car. Did that with my past cars. Like I said, this is just my driving car. Highway cruising. It’s very comfortable and it floats! Pulls away from almost anything I come against. I don’t have the time to do track days like I did in my 20s. Even if I had a 911 I probably wouldn’t track it. Just drive it. Drive it hard. But not racing.

Don't take this the wrong way but why so much power if you ae not going to take it to the track? I went from a car with 553hp to a 991.2 C4S with PowerKit (450HP). When I was looking I was driving new Panamera and was impressed, But I knew I could not (or would not) take a Panamera on the track. So tons of power, but why? So I can get a speeding ticket?

That said, I’m not sure the C4S will have enough pull for you. I’d suggest you go with a .2 gts that you can tune, or go with a TT/S.
