New forged wheels that require balancing
Recently had a custom set of wheels made.
I've had many sets of wheels in the past.
This is my first 3 piece forged set.
While having the wheels balanced by my shop.
1 of the wheels required 1.75 oz weight to balance.
Others required 2.75 on the outside part of the wheel to balance.
Is that within tolerance? Or even expected?
This is certainly higher than I have expected for a new set of wheels.
Based on what was paid. I would say they would be considered to be in the premium wheel category.

One thing to check is that they installed the tire with the colored reference dot on the tire aligned with the tire stem. Tire manufacturers place this there after they test the tire to indicate where the tire should be rotated during installation to have the least amount of imbalance (since the tire stem and pressure sensor itself adds a little imbalance).
