Default Door Panel Armrest Removal

Hey guys,

Anyone know if/how the door panel armrest can be removed? Does it just snap in with clips? Or is it plastic welded? Example of the piece to be removed below.

If memory serves, the armrests are riveted into the door panels. Not an easy switch at all.

Thanks for the response. Anyone have another recollection that involves less work

Don't fear the rivets, you remove them and can then use a good 2 part epoxy if the new part does not come with new rivet ends (Do note that would make your change permanent).

Correct.

When I was looking to do a similar update on the door furniture for my Cayman 981(to leather door pulls and armrests) I found that it would essentially just be easier to replace the whole door card... in the end, I replaced the whole car with a 991 that already had the interior (and many other features) that I wanted.

Upgrading the door interiors can be done... it's just a pain unless you can find a part-out set of what you're looking for.

Removing the arm rests is a pain, a bunch of rivets to drill out. But the harder part is reattaching the replacements, did they leave you material to screw them back together?

Even getting the right screws is trial and error. One of these days I'll write up my door card remodel project.
