Default 2018 911.2 GTS - where to start mods

Hey,
After 2 months with me 911.2 GTS i am thinking about getting some more power out of it. I want to start with simple mods so i can reverse them in case warranty work.
I see everyone recommending doing 200 cells cats as best bang for buck. Which one is the best sound and performance improvement?
After that should i get cobb or custom tune after cells?

Bypass pipes are the best bang for your buck. They make the most power, they make the most noise (which I still feel is not enough), and they're the cheapest... You may get an occasional CEL with the 02 spacers. It doesn't stink unless you just came off wide open throttle and slammed your brakes to come to a stop at a red light with all your windows down.

You may want to look into headers too.

ive ordered Soul cat bypass with O2 spacers, BMC intake and am considering an IPD plenum. All for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Headers and cats are the two easiest mods as the access is right there. And they happen to both free up the most power and improve boost response.

My dealership told me they would do all kinds of mods for me. And keep the warranty in tact. They just stated that it’s a known secret in the industry.

Maybe ask your dealer?

That's not what my dealership told me. Whatever...I don't care. I understand the "you gotta pay to play" rules.

I've had my GTS for a couple of months also but I modded my car as soon as I took delivery. High flow cats (cat bypass if your state allows it), quality aftermarket headers, and BMC air filter will get you stage II ready. I have SOUL 200 cell high flow cats, Kline headers and BMC air filter on my 991.2 GTS, and I absolutely love the exhaust sound and the minor power gain (butt dyno). The cats and headers definitely provide quicker throttle response IMHO. I'm going to enjoy my current setup for another 1,000 miles or so and when COBB cleans up their stage II/Protune, I'll probably pull the trigger then. I'm sure I'll crave more power and fun by then.

Also...if you like turning wrenches, swapping out headers, cats, and air filter are not too difficult but nevertheless, work. To swap out cats and the air filter, the bumper needs to be removed. If you can find a trustworthy Indy shop, it might be worth the $$ as to not deal with bruises and scrapes.

Here is a DIY on header install. With all the correct tools and knowing all the steps and tricks, it can be done in 2 hours.

I was reading that BMC filter is not really an upgrade over stock, is that correct? Cost is not high, but i want to avoid unnecessary mods. I am thinking between soul 200 or fabspeed. Any other worth mentioning?

I’m no expert in this matter but I’ll state what I know from my limited research. I don’t believe that any aftermarket filters or CAIs provide any noticeable power gains (HP/torque). It’s really not a mod that’s worth the $$. Where this mod will contribute is with a tune working in conjunction with high flow cats and headers. Tuners require filters such as BMC to go stage II due to “sustained air flow rate” demand. It is my understanding that both air filters, stock and BMC, exhibit same initial air flow rates but the stock filter is not able to sustain the “air flow rate” demand of a stage II tune.
Allrightee then....fights on!

I spoke with one of the top Porsche tuners earlier this week. Apparently there is some very cool upgrade options set to be released for the 3.0l turbo engine shortly.

I'd like to see some dyno charts of these power and torque gains and preferably not those from the manufacture.

Thank you for considering us! Sport Catalytic Converters are a great way to add power, response, and sound without a CEL and fumes. We've installed the BMC filter at our facility. We noticed a small increase in intake sound, but any performance gains would barely register. I invite you to give us a call and we can explain all the options and mods you are considering - we're always happy to take care of Rennlist members.

I hope they are treating you well! Let us know if you need a plenum, happy to take care of you further.

Glad you are happy! We'd love to hear your feedback after a tune.
