I won't keep a plugged tire on the front for longer than it takes to order a new tire. But I've had plugged tires on the rear for extended period without issues (on other cars). I just figure that a front-side tire failure has greater potential to cause an accident than a rear-side failure, especially with these low profile tires.

I once had Pep Boys damage the rim on my wife's van and they were quite the a**holes about the entire deal and refused to acknowledge that they damaged the rims.

Luckily I found a professional shop that I used for years until I moved away.

The most recent set of tires I replaced were on my Merc SUV and I had the dealer do the work because the price difference was minimal (with a current discount) and the dealer did a great job, no damage to the rims.
Best thing to do is take some photos of all the rims, some dealers even note damage (if any) before the car enters the shop.

Tom Brady is an expert at deflating rubber. I bet he can find the problem.

Interesting chain of events for me:

lost 4 lbs of air on tue

took it in to suncoast on wed but they didn’t have a tire

havent lost air since tuesday so I’m not too sure if I’m changing the tire or not.

Arghhhhhh

Saturday I washed the car and got brave— saw the piece of metal in the offending tire and pulled it out with needle nose pliers. No hiss. No bubbles with soapy water... all good now.

Done.

Had a similar situation with a screw that lodged itself into the tire at an angle. Rather than pulling it myself, I drove to the local tire store. They pulled the screw out - no rush of air. They took the wheel off and did the submerged in water bubble test - nothing. Put the wheel back on and sent me on my way - no charge!

I had a similar situation as well. Ended up being a nail that entered one of the center tread blocks at its base and was flush with the outside of the tire. I could not see it even with the tire off the car. The local tire guy dismounted the tire and sure enough it was sticking through the inside. Given the location & angle I had the tire fixed with the patch/plug. I know I'll get flamed but It isn't uncommon to patch race slicks. I think over the last year I have run at least three patched tires on my GT3 Cup. Some tracks have a lot of FOD and it's just a fact of life. That being said, it's critical to know what can & can't be patched - and it's more complex than just not the sidewall.

What a crazy ride.

came out to the car at 5pm and the pressure was down to 13lbs. Back at Suncoast this morning and they are taking care of me.

so the tire held pressure for a week. Must have been moving that screw around while I was driving.

Thankful for suncoast this morning.

I hope Suncoast gets this sorted out for you soon, and fully resolved. Keep in mind, and maybe remind the Suncoast guys, the North American tire distributor of "N-Rated" tires is The Tire Rack. They keep n-rated tires in reserve for the dealerships, even when their web site says "out of stock". That’s the exclusive agreement PCNA makes with the dealerships and The Tire Rack, since PCNA dictates the use of a specific n-rated item. So, don't let them tell you they can't find a tire......they need to look a little harder. GL.

Somewhat on topic but if I ever want to take my wheel off to check the tire for a leak can someone tell me what size socket I need? I have the factory 5 lugs on my 2019 Targa GTS. And is there a source where I can get a soft-sided socket?

I don't! If I need to take it off I will have a neighbor do it but I also want one to take to the installer who will be putting the PCCBs on to make sure my wheels don't get scratched.

19mm

Tip- wrap the socket with electrical tape. Pads it against knocking it on the wheel.

You'll need a breaker bar. I slip a 2 foot piece of black gas pipe over my 3/4" drive wrench.

Retorque to 118 ft.lbs.
