Default 991.1 GTS Wheels- Centerlock/ 5 lug

Question for the gurus.

Do all 991 (specifically 15/16) GTS cars come with centerlocks or was there a 5lug option?

Sorry I couldn't find it with a rudimentary google/ RL search. Thanks ahead of time!

You were able to get the 5 lug. Centerlock was a no cost add option.

Actually the 5 lugs were the no cost option as CLs were stock equipment.

Same goes for the 991.2.

Thanks folks! That's exactly what I was looking for. I'm looking for a very specific build and 9/10 of these have CL so I wanted to make that it was offered from Porsche as an option (vs being retrofitted).

You’re correct. I just remember being able to get either.

I love my 991.1 Targa GTS but the only thing I regret is not getting the 5 lug wheels; it really limits where you can change out the wheels (or even at home as you need a special torque wrench).

Center locks look better, IMO, however the 5-lug option is more practical.
Here's a picture of my 5-lug GTS

My main reason is how the 5 lugs look since the CLs look too "busy" to me. I could care less about changing tires since that does not happen that often.

I love the look of my center locks. However, I've already had one flat and that was the moment I realized that they were a bad idea. If it was a dedicated track car, perhaps they'd be a better option. However, quite a bit inconvenient for everyday use.

just buy the torque wrench and breaker bar combo, about $400. The only thing special about it is that the tool is really big, other than that it is simply a torque wrench. You can even carry it with you... but I will grant that 5 lug is something that 3rd parties are familiar with but it doesn’t matter for roadside service in the event you shred, not just puncture, a tire because 911s don’t carry spares.

Well that and you have to have special grease, have the side lifted, if the front tires are being changed someone has to push on the brakes/ if not available another tool is needed to keep the brakes engaged, etc.. I'd rather just remove 5 lug nuts and torque to spec :]

Also if you track with any regularity with a second set of wheels, it's a hassle to remove/ install.

Castrol Molub, $32 (I think it’s a bit expensive for anti-seize but a tube will last a long time). https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/04302000.html

Everything else is just procedure. For the track, and everywhere else, I would rather torque 4 CLs than 20 lug nuts. Some people do not like CLs because they are, well, different. I am not here to debate it because it is your car and quite frankly I really do not care what you get. What I am asserting is that the oft-repeated complexity of centerlocks is myth more than fact.

I find it easier to change centerlock wheels than my old 5-lug wheels when I make the swap between summer and winter wheels. And centerlocks look fantastic.
