Default Is it weird that I like the smell?

I've read some threads that it's normal for the car to smell. At first I was a bit put out, but I've learned to like it. It lingers in my garage as a reminder of good times.

I know the old oil cooled cars have a very distinctive oil smell. I don't remember my 996 smelling. I'm just surprised that a modem car would.

Adcampo, you are getting extra 'fast car smell" as the new PSE burns in. It will lessen in a few heat cycles.

Some of that smell can also come from bits of tire rubber getting thrown up on hot exhaust during aggressive driving. After my fun run with the other Rennlisters last weekend mine had quite a bit of that wonderful scent.

I like the just driven smell too. However I think I like the new Porsche leather interior smell even more.

I remember parking the the old air cooled cars in the garage after a good drive. You used to hear the metal ticking sound of the heat exchangers cooling down. Good memories.

I was a bit worried at first, but now it's up there with bacon.

Glad I'm not alone. It's an interesting mix of tire, oil and sweet coolant and clutchy smell. I've read it goes away with time? My car is 6 years old when 17k miles on it and still off gassing.

Edit - before I throw up a bunch of red flags, there is no coolant smell.

I'm right there with you. At 4 years and 13,400 miles and I get "the smells" even after moderate drives. It's so unlike other cars I've owned.
